But this basically sums up every european person today after waking up:

You coudnt be more wrong
same here, i can tell you that this gif doesnt sum it up
Trump s election is good for europe:*Trump is against TAFTA (NAFTA helped to destroy the industrial states of the Upper Midwest)
*pacification of international relationship (with countries such as russia, hillary wouldnt discuss with them)
*Against wild globalization
*Against going to war without solid proof (trump was against iraq war)so not sure how it ll end up for USA but it s good for europe
He wasn't against the war. There's tape of him on Howard Stern supporting it. Maybe he changed his mind but at that point he did support it. Just clarifying.
My Thoughts:
To say last night was a disappointment for my family and I is a huge undersell. I watched as my wife (an American citizen born in this country to Hispanic immigrants and a victim of sexual assault) break down in tears as she watched was one of the saddest moments of my life. It's one thing to disagree with a candidate for political reasons, it's another to disagree with them on a human decency level.
For me, Clinton represented the worst in politics. She was basically a career politician, she used her positions of influence to help her Foundation (which does DO amazing things in this world, which I think has been forgotten and overlooked), she mishandled government data with her e-mail server, and she was difficult to know where she stood on certain issues because there was clear evidence that at times she said one thing in public and another in private.
And yet, Trump is just as corrupt in business. He's had thousands of lawsuits brought against him. His University is a scam (and a trial is coming soon I believe). His Foundation is a joke. It's impossible to know where he stands because there's very little record, and he speaks in such platitudes and generalities that it's difficult to know if he really has any kind of plans in mind. He was a Democrat for years, so I don't even honestly know if he's as right wing as his supporters think. He thinks Global Warming is a hoax invented by the chinese, he questions the use of nuclear weapons and has encouraged other nations to pursue acquiring them. He's a proven liar, just as much so as Clinton.
And that's not even getting into the racism, sexism, xenophobia, fascism, and sexual assault.
But alas, America has chosen. Last night as my wife and I were climbing into bed she kept asking me "what are we going to do?" We briefly mentioned the possibility of moving out of the country, but that was when we overcome with emotions. By this morning we woke up and came to grips with the fact that he was the President-Elect, and all we can do now is hope that his extreme ideas never come to fruition (the wall, deportation task force, muslim ban, etc), and hope that he proves us wrong and does a good job.
We know right away though that the ACA (Obamacare) is dead. It will be repealed within the first 100 days I imagine. He's going to be able to nominate someone for the Supreme Court vacancy (which should not be open!), and I hope that he chooses a moderate, though I imagine he will be pressured and told by his advisors to pick the most conservative person on the bench viable. My worst fear right now is that more supreme court seats will open and he will be allowed to fill them. Replacing Scalia with another Republican is going back to the status quo, but if 1-2 of the more liberal judges should retire or pass away, Trump would be able to change the direction of this nation's course for a generation.
Losing the Presidency hurt. Giving him a Republican Congress may have hurt worse. Republicans always do better in the midterms. So it's likely he'll have a Republican Congress for four years (though who knows what the political landscape will look like in two years). And my problem is not necessarily with Republicans, it's with the alt-right that has taken over vast amounts of positions within those congressional seats.
Either way, we can only hope for the best, fight against those policies we disagree with, and hope to move forward. America has spoken, and it has elected it's next President. I will support that decision, though I disagree vehemently with it. I will call Trump out when he does wrong, and I will give him credit when it is due. My hope is that the Democrats in Congress should America that they are not like the Republicans of the last eight years and will work WITH them, and not against them. Work WITH Trump.
Side note: I applaud the Huffington Post for their article this morning announcing they're removing their editor's note about Trump (where they call him as a sexist, racist, etc) because at the end of the day he is our President-Elect. And America has decided he deserves a chance.
Side note 2: Imagine of Bernie had won the primaries, or if Biden or Warren had thrown their hat in the ring and won.
