The Positivity Thread

Post#1 » by zuppafly » Thu Nov 17, 2016 1:49 pm

We've all (mostly) been down about the team and even on wins we can't seem to find many positive things to brag about this roster and the direction we're going. Lets be honest: we're playing like crap, everyone looks like crap except on some very short stints.

Still, we should do a better job of cheering and staying positive. Being down does not help ourselves at all and we should start looking for the bright spots and hope that this is just a mega slump and that we'll become better with time. Most of us have been around these boards and supporting the team for long enough to know that wins and losses, good and bad seasons come and go like waves. By the laws of average we will bounce back and at the end of the season our defense will have picked up, our offense will get a big bump from where it is right now.

Having all that said, look at the next 5 games:
Dallas
@ Milwaukee
Phoenix
Washington
Milwaukee

We are 5-7. We could very well be 10-7 (why not?) by the end of that stretch as this is probably the easiest schedule we could ask for right now apart from having Philly and more NO games thrown in there.

Hopefully we can get at least 4 wins out of this stretch and give the guys a morale boost that translates into having:
- better shooting : confidence plays a big role in this
- better ball movement : more trust in your teammates ability to finish the play
- better defense: again, trust your mates will get your back covered and play more pesky, physical defense against other guards drives.

Maybe, just maybe, we need a bit of luck and get these wins lead to a different mindset within the team so we'll get to see a much better squad overall.

Doesn't hurt to think positive, right?

I think it is a positive that Jeff Green is on only a 1 year contract.

I'm all for the positivity thread!!! I went to the game last night... it was brutal. I drove from Miami just to watch the game with a buddy of mine (Pelicans fan). I had an epiphany at the game though.

YES, the team is sloppy as can be offensively
YES, Gordon and Payton still cant shoot
YES, We never go to the line and when we do I wish we wouldn't have
YES, Hezonja looks like a bust (not even in the rotation)

You get the point but guess what? I love this organization!!!

The sense of community Orlando has is second to none
Rob has done in my opinion a great job with the resources he has been given
The fan experience at the game + arena are top in the league
STUFF is the best mascot in maybe all of sports
As a whole the organization has been a fun one to get behind

I know none of that is too basketball related but we have 9 new players, new coaching staff, very young players etc...

We should rally behind them instead of tearing down there every mistake. I'm 26, most of them are younger than me and they have all dedicated their entire lives to this game. Made sacrifices most of us wouldn't dream of and the LEAST we could do as a fan community is support them.

No but on a more positive note, the defense has looked better the last 4 games minus the OKC game.

I think AGs game is coming together, and he is showing some leadership qualities now.

Still not sure I agree with him coming off the bench behind Jeff Green...

I think it is a positive that the team is 5-7. This team could easily be 3-9 or 2-10 with some of the wins they squeaked out.

It is.
We should realize that the losses we had were not due to the refs or simple bad luck. The universe is not conspiring against us and in some cases we had lady luck on our side (that Wizards last shot is proof).
So, yeah, lets keep positive on that side because we could be in a worse position standings wise.
