The Magic are expected to sign F/G Anthony Brown ahead of tomorrow's game against GSW to shore up the wing with Evan Fournier and Jodie Meeks expected to miss extended time with their injuries. Brown is a 24 year old SF/SG in his 3rd year in the NBA, having spent time with the Lakers and most recently the Pelicans during training camp. He will be the first NBA D-League call up of the season for the Magic, having spent time with the teams D-League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks. The deal is expected to be a 10 day contract.

Good scoring numbers in the D League, but hasn't been able to produce in the NBA. Hasn't shot the 3 well in the NBA, and I'm guessing the rest of his scoring game has been difficult in the NBA because of what appears to be very average athleticism. Maybe he can find his outside shot for us.

He's no Desmond Penigar. Why wasn't he retained for the remainder of 2004? He played well for us, but we let him go and brought Britton Johnsen back for the rest of the year instead.

One of the best players in the D-League this year, shooting 47.2% from three on 5.6 3PTA per game.

I'd honestly rather play him than Watson.

Trying not to look to much into this but I wonder what this means for Mario...

Or more likely just a reaction to some recent injuries

Yeah I don't see him getting much playing time. I'm just hoping that C.J. doesn't cut too much time into Mario's minutes or at least he shows flashes to Vogel that he's better than C.J.

Knowing Vogel, he is not here to take Watson's minutes...Mario on the other hand... :banghead:

I would anticipate that this is to have the guy sit at the end of the bench in an emergency role (if all other guards get injured).

I have a feeling him and Wilcox will play similar roles lol while we continue to develop CJ Watson for the future

Doubt this guy will play, but can you imagine if he gets even a minute over Mario? I almost want to see it happen just to see the fireworks here.

With Meeks and Fournier out, the Magic need a wing. For one, I expected a SG or a combo wing. Not a combo forward that can shoot threes.

..

Yeah why aren't we using Wilcox more? He seems to do alright. Can't be any worse than CJ.

It's about time this organisation found a capable unsigned / d-league rotation player.

Is this the guy? Probably not but you never know.

It is reported to be official from today on a 10-day deal. This should take him through Feb. 1. Five games on 10-days.
He gets one day to work out with the team before the Bulls game on Tuesday.

With those numbers, kid deserves an NBA callup and a little extra cash. I hope he can prove himself to stick.

He's played for the Lakers and NOP and hasn't panned out. This is just a stop gap until we get some guys back.
