The Magic is far off from the playoffs, but they are still achievable. Indeed the Magic can "control their own destiny" if the team was to win out.

Realistically the playoffs looks to require ~40 wins. This means the team needs to go about 18-4 to make the playoffs.

The Magic is in the hunt for being the worst team, but they "challengers" are all doing a lot more to lose than win games. If the Magic want to bottom out to the 3-worst, a 4-18 record places the Magic at 26-56.

There is a great voice now for Tank-Them-All, but I suspect a non-vocal majority exists that hates losses. So the vote.

Would you rather want Orlando to win 18 games to close out the season, or lose 18 games?

IF we won 18 more games, that means there is a bit of talent on this roster.

IF we lose 18, that means this roster is crap. And it will be crap next year, with another young player with "potential" on it.

My vote is to try and get to the playoffs. I only say that because we need to show FAs that we have a desirable team to play for

I'm torn....really. just so damn sick of losing and rooting for lucky bounces. I know we need the infusion of a possible star, but my heart loves to see the success and wins. Logically, losing 18 is the right choice to better our team for the long run.

I expect "lose 18" to win comfortably, but if we actually managed to win 18, I think that would be pretty good news for us. Having the information that our current configuration of talent can be functional would be valuable. I don't actually know if that's better or worse than being in a position to draft a top player. It's probably worse, because ultimately we still need a supreme individual talent on the team, but it's closer than a lot of people probably think.

How is this even a question?

Even with the acquisition of Ross this roster still needs talent.

Everyone wants to 'feel good' about this team going into next season. Definitely not worth it at the expense of picking in the top 5 in a solid draft.

Win 18 pretty easily. What I'm afraid of is the in between like win 10, see some promise but win enough to be out of the top 5 draft picks.

The problem is neither will happen.

I expect to lose games but for the losses to be far more competitive. I'm still expecting a top 6 pick. This team hasn't won back to back games since December.

Only one of these things has a possibility of happening of over 0.0001% and it's not Option A. Even if everyone on the team gives 105% from now and Vogel suddenly becomes a better coach than Pop, we won't win 18 games until the end of the season.

If we won 18 straight games, that would mean we actually have a team that can compete. It also would get other players excited about coming to play here.

Losing 18 straight games *might* get us to the #2 worst spot. Or it might not, that's still assuming LAL or PHX would win 4/5 games to pass us which may or may not happen. They are on pace to win about another 7 games each based on current record, but they could turn on the tank in the last couple weeks and cut that number down. So we could end up at 4th worst despite losing all 18 games.

I'd much rather have the wins and excitement. That said, we will likely do the worst of all worlds and go 9-9.

It won't matter because Vogel and Henny are not tanking this year. They are going to teach the players how to win and compete in each and every single game. They have to learn sometime or end up career losers.

Neither of these because regrettably our aim is to be mediocre, so we will be in the middle and go .500.

If you could guarantee 18 wins, then that definitely sounds nice. But that's a pipe dream. If we do that then we'll shoot ourselves in the foot.

We need to get a star because this is a league of HAVES and HAVE NOTS and right now we are in the HAVE NOTs category. Winning just keeps us in the HAVE NOTs category. Our fans need to have foresight that the future is more important than the now.

I agree. If this team went 18-4, that would mean everyone started playing to their potential, and we'd be in a position to at least hurt someone in the postseason, probably even win a series. I'm all for it.

If we were to go 18-4, it would pretty much mean someone stepped up as our star, so we wouldn't desperately need a top three pick.
