This is really interesting. He has some great coaching experience now and while not to water down the value of a great coach, the major victories come in recruiting. Can he sell his HOF status to kids?

Just came to post this. Good for him, I always liked him as a player (grew up in NY as a Knicks fan), as an assistant with the Magic, and he was a hell of a nice guy when I spent some time with the NBA all stars at Disney many hears ago.

He's certainly paid his dues.

Good for you Patrick, the NBA stonewalled the guy for various reasons, but he should have been given a shot!
I hope he returns the Hoyas to the glory days, when he patrolled the paint there!

I also grew up a Knicks fan and I can remember that he was the very first pick, of the very first NBA lottery in 1985!!

It's good for him. I'm skeptical that it is good for Georgetown.

I'm not sure it's fair to call it stonewalling when the general unspoken consensus from NBA insiders seems to be that he is ill-equipped for the job. I can't speak to the specifics of why that is, but I've heard Michael Wilbon mention this whenever Ewing has been linked to open positions in the past.

Hes just not someone i think would be very motivational as a coach. Every time i see him he just looks bored. I admit i have zero knowledge on his ability, this is just based on how it looks.

He deserves this and I wish him nothing but the best.

It was time someone gave him a shot, he has been vocal about wanting a HC job for a long time.
