I guess they gave them the Magic since Orlando has taken over as the Tragic.

Yes, it is.

http://lakeland.dleague.nba.com/

The D-League website also still has Erie as a Magic affiliate. The Hawks will be taking them over next season.

With 25 of 30 teams having a D-League team either via Ownership or Hybrid affiliation, it should not more than a season or two before each NBA team has their own D-League (It will be the G-League next year) team.

Makes it uniform, kind of like OCB. That was my thought behind the suggestion anyway

I don't mean it as a knock on your suggestion at all NEM. It obviously makes sense, but I just don't get why hold a competition to name the team if that's ultimately in your mind as a possible choice.

No I know. I figured they'd choose that name so that's what I went with lol.

Not even a stretch of a statement.

The Lakeland Magic got their first victory a few nights ago.

Tonight is the home opener.

I'm watching the game tonight. Iwundu looks really good, and definitely looks way better than most of the other players on the court. I really wish he was getting Mario's minutes but I'm glad that Magic have the G-League team so close now so he can travel back and forth between the teams, so he can get some playing time in Lakeland.

Gatorade league might be a little dropoff from NBA level but its not a big dropoff. Everyone on these G League teams should have NBA potential and if they didn't have any nba potential, they shouldn't be on a G league roster.

Nice 31 for Iwundu. Good to see a prospect dominate.

Best part it's OUR prospect, this isn't a seth Curry situation... We got Wes locked up so to speak. Having our own team works out so well since we can have some guys stay here in Lakeland when we go west and rejoin when we are home. I hope he keeps playing well, he pretty much has Mario's spot soon enough.

Wesley doing what an NBA player is supposed to do...go down there, mop up, and show you don’t belong there. I always figured we’d send a struggling Mario down last year and he’d go off like Kobe and gain some steam...too late now. Good job Wes!

I saw on the g league site that Golden State Warriors went to attend a game of their G league team Santa Clara Warriors. Maybe when we are home and lakeland is at home, Orlando team could go see the Lakeland team.
