But he does have a special talent for taking assets and turning them into nothing. Ryan Anderson became Gustavo Ayon. Tobias Harris became Ersan Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings. Kyle O’Quinn became cash. Maurice Harkless became a top-55-protected pick in 2020 (really). Channing Frye became Jared Cunningham and a second-round pick. Oladipo and a lottery pick became Serge Ibaka, who in turn became Terrence Ross and a late-first-rounder.

The goal of a general manager should be to rip people off in trades. Even if Harris’s career has stalled, he was perceived as valuable at the time he was traded. Oladipo certainly commanded more than what the Magic eventually got in return. They should have just kept players like Anderson, O’Quinn, and Harkless. A group of players the Magic traded away would handily beat the current Magic. That is not a good sign.

Decent article, although I think some writers tend to overcompensate when they're fans of certain teams. Ringer also had him (or I think somebody else) rank the Magic as having the worst future in the league.

As terrible as this season was, still going to be a Magic fan regardless. I still am hopeful and encouraged of what I've seen from AG and Payton this year when we played an uptempo style and with AG at PF.

A lot of things in this franchise needs to get better though, I agree.

Trading Payton and Vučević is by far easiest way to start rebuild by making good decisions. Getting rid of two players that don't belong in modern basketball at once.

Depends on the draft.. if we get top two pick payton is gone. Fultz obviously one and ball second. If you dont get top two pick you pick up best wing. In order jackson, tatum and issac and for some reason we miss out on all 5 i dont mind having malik monk on the team.

a lot of players i would take before Monk. He will have a hard time transitioning to the NBA with his small size and shaky handles.

He could have still gotten more for each and every one of them or packaged them for better assets. His deals the last 3 years downgraded the team.
