Dwight Howard

Post#1 » by OrlMagic05 » Tue May 2, 2017 8:48 pm

According to wiretap, a trade for Dwight would only cost a 2nd rounder and cap relief.

Hypothetically speaking, if we strike out on a FA this summer, would you guys trade one of our 2nd round picks for him? I know he is a big baby and could bring drama to the locker room, but he still looks effective when given the call.

We can't be worse with him than without him.

But for real, his 13.5 and 12.7 averages in 29.7 minutes are still great.

We might not be able to play for a championship next season, but we can have a feel-good season in other ways.

I don't know if this post qualifies as glass half full or empty...

No friggin way. He's literally caused trouble at every stop he's made. What a waste his career has turned into. He still thinks he's David Robinson and should be the focus of an offense. Hell Robinsons 50 and probably more effective in the post than he is.

He is the last player the young guys need to have in their locker room.

No, no and no. He's 31 with a few injuries, he's on the decline, he's a liability on offense and not suited for the modern NBA. But he still wants to have the ball in his hands and complains just like he did 8 years ago. He'll never learn and we should run away from any contact his camp tries to make with this franchise.

As soon as I saw that wiretap I knew a thread like this would pop up in here. sigh...

Why are we still talking about Howard? He'll whine his way into retirement. And then whine about why he deserved to be a Hall of Famer but his teammates sucked, the coaches sucked, the organizations sucked and even the fans sucked. Yeah, everything but him sucks. No thanks.

Dwight can still play and can be had for cheap.

But we are a super star away from being relevant and he is no longer a super star. He won't get us over the top so while the price may be right, the drama isn't.

No thanks.

I can see reasons why a new FO would consider bringing him back and reasons why they might not.

Pros:
- Feel good story about his return (ala LeBron and Cleveland)
- Cheap addition and he can still play defense

Cons:
- horrible attitude. Would likely be a distraction and a cancer
- seems to turn other players off, so might kill our chances of signing another star player.

The biggest element that could decide the matter is how desperate the franchise is to get back to the playoffs again.

If we could swing a trade for Butler, get Dwight for basically nothing, and keep our draft pick then we could be in a good position for a quick turnaround.

I've enjoyed every bit of watching Dwight ruin his career and reputation. He can keep that all to himself.

I feel like it would bring an influx of posters that used to post here back, for better or worse.

Other than that, if he didn't prove to be a headache again this year, maybe, but it's probably not worth it.

I'd trade Biz for him.

Two, Deight's trade value just shows how thatthe league jsnt what it used to be. Defensive assetd but an Offensive liability dont hold much value. Even a young player like Nerlens only nettedthe Sixers some garbage.

I'd do it for biz.

Dwight/Gordon/Fournier/Pick/Payton

then trade Vucci for some depth.

The fact that his trade value is basically a 2nd rounder is concerning in itself.

David Robinson???

The dude wishes he was on D-Rob's level when he was in Orlando. If he improved his overall offensive game, then he would crack into the conversation with the D-Robs, the Ewings, the Olajuwons, the Mournings, and the Mutombos of the world.

Sometimes it's best the divorce stays just that, a divorce. There will be a player of better quality that will appreciate the team for respect his talent and character and the player in return will appreciate his team for taking a chance on him for his skills and character.

Dwight Howard is about to complain his way into the Chinese D league! I loved him as a kid but he grew into a coach/franchise killing 6'10 crybaby!

See if SVG would take him in Detroit.....that would answer the question once and for all!

No!!!!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Defensive C's, and C's in general, often fetch low value.

Cousins - traded for Hield, Evans and a pick
Plumlee - traded for Nurkic + 1st rounder
Noel - traded for Bogut and a top 18 protected 1st
Bogut - traded for cap space
Ibaka - traded for Oladipo + lottery pick (then traded for Ross + #25 pick)
Monroe - couldn't be given away.
Kanter - traded for expirings
Dwight - traded for Afflalo + Vuc + Harkless + three 1st round picks
Chandler - traded a bunch of times for cap space, Dampier, Okafor, etc
Jefferson - traded for Koufos and 2 late 1st round picks

On top of that, a lot of C's walk and sign elsewhere. Howard, Horford, Noah, Jefferson, Mahinmi, Biyombo, Mozgov, Nene all signed with different teams this summer, I'd venture to say because their former teams weren't prepared to pay them.
