He hasn't done much so far.

I have seen his name mentioned in a few trade proposals.

So I was wondering what it would take for the magic to trade him straight up? What is his value to the magic fan base/leadership.?

I would offer the 28th pick in the draft straight up for hezonja. Would that be enough to get it done? Or would another team top that offer easily?


Just wanting some magic fans perspective on the trade value of hezonja.

28 for Hezonja is a fair deal. I think the Magic keep him and develop him this year at reserve PF since he is still on a rookie deal. But to get a 1st round draft pick for him - that I would do.

Would they? yes? For the 28th? Prob No but depends on who is available at 28.

Like you said, Mario had a disappointing season. His value is at an all-time low and trading him now would be the worse time. He can't get any worse than how he was last season. FO intends to bring him back another full season off the bench and see how staying in Orlando and working on his game this summer will translate next season.

Mario is a project that the organization has invested a lot of time into. It's like DET with Stanley Johnson. No point in trading for another young rookie who is going to require the same amount of time and training to even sniff PT his rookie year.

We would trade him in a package for a star or if the chance came to land another top 10 pick this year and get someone like Isaac or Tatum.

I'd take this deal anyway. Flip 25 and 28 to move up and make sure we get Diallo/Kennard.

we will wait after this offseason and than decide. Guy has skill, and size there is no doubt about it. his vision and passing is severely underrated. he is clumsy, and makes bad decisions on offense and defense, but that is corractable with experiance. i would say late lottery or no deal

It is very disappointing to get such a return on former No.5 pick and anyway I value more early 2nd's (31-35) than 28th pick.

However, I would gladly deal 25th pick + Hezonja for say pick in 15-20 range.

We absolutely would trade him in the right deal but I don't see this as being the right deal. When he reaches the final year of his rookie deal we can talk about dumping him for a low pick.

I would trade Mario + 25th and one of the second and try to break in the top 10. There are teams out there that still are intrigued by him. SAC is going to need a forward after Gay walks and they pick Fox with that 5th. Mario and what else can we include to snag the 10th from them?

I wouldn't make that trade. Hezonja is stock that has depreciated no doubt, but you hold on to because there is the possibility that it increases in value over time. I think it is asinine to trade the former number 5 pick for the 28th pick in the draft.

Unfortunately, that's a great deal for Hezonja. However, I'm not sure the Magic need more draft picks this year. They already have 4 and there's no way they bring 4 rookies to camp.

This might sound crazy and I was one of his biggest critics, but I'm kind of inclined to hold on to Hezonja at least one more year. I feel like he wasted both his off-seasons in Croatia and this is his first full off-season working with NBA trainers and coaches. I think spending all that time with the Croatian national team last off-season really set him back. Somewhere in there is that brash, confident player, and I think last season was a wake up call for what he needs to do to make it in the NBA. I may be totally off base, but I think his work ethic, which coaches still rave about, will carry him through this off-season and he'll come back a better player. I like that he's staying in Orlando and is working out daily. I hope he plays Summer League and gets some alpha male reps. He made a lot of strides on defense last year and his shooting stroke will come along with his confidence. I think he could be as good, if not better, than who you could pick at #25. Plus, his trade value is so low, I'd rather stick this project out 1 more year. Hezonja turning himself into merely a rotation player who can score the ball would be huge for our roster flexibility and depth.

Thank for saving me from typing the exact same thing! I would even go as far as pegging him as the desired starter at small forward for the upcoming season. Instilled the dependence and confidence in him right now. He was at rock bottom this season.... and his drive and determination to be great will either yield 1 of 2 possibilities.... a broken player or breakout player. I want to bank on the end of 2015 mario.

No reason to do a deal like this when you can buy a late first for cash every single year.

I'm not ready to give up on Mario yet. I still think he could develop into at the least, a nice shooter to have coming off the bench. I'd keep him around at least another season.
