What is our biggest need this off-season?

I truly believe we need to go after players who can get to the free throw line consistently. Our best player last year at getting to the free throw line was Evan Fournier. He got to the line 4.1 times a game last year. That put him at 45th in the league. Are second best player at getting to the line was biz, who got to the line 2.9 times a game and he wasn't even a starter most of the season( he is paid like one though).

I know part of it is we don't have a star player who doesn't get the "star" calls. But we settle for way to many jumpers. Which would be fine if we were the warriors and had that many great shooters but we are not them and don't have that type of talent.

I think a player like this would help us all around with are drive and kick game and even allow our defense to get back and get set instead of so many missed jumpers which led to way to many fast break opportunities for the other teams.

What do you feel is our biggest need this off-season?

Find our Draymond Green. A strong tweener who battles on both ends. BBIQ and the ability to hit open 3's, make the right switches on D, inspire. A player whose contribution doesn't always show on the box score. a winner...a leader...I'm thinking Jae Crowder could be that guy.

I'm NOT saying Jae = Draymond (or Kawhi)...just the type of guy we need.

A lot of needs but I believe the biggest is a player with an alpha dog scorer mentality. We lack offense and need a guy who we can turn to when everyone else is off or in clutch situations.

Patience and a commitment to investment in youth and development. Our attempts to circumvent the organic process is what led to our significant step backwards this year. Despite what Martins stated after Hennigan's firing, we are not close to being competitive. Even if we can squeeze a playoff appearance out of this core, there is no future in making short-sighted decisions to force a roster of marginal talents into a first round playoff exit.

Boston finished first in the East in the regular season and managed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals without ever making short-sighted decisions. Commitment and competence will eventually get us where we want to go without the use of smoke and mirrors.

The Magic need to get more talent.

They should take BPA at #6 and try to use #33 and/or #35 to move up from #25.

Then, they need to look at their roster, access where they are and possibly make some trades.

The Draft this year is huge.

We have agreed that the Magic should not take 4 rookies in to the next season. But here I note that teams rarely trade down.
One trade that is a merged idea is Brooklyn's #22 and #27 for Orlando's #25 + #33 + #35. Maybe Orlando needs to throw in the next-year's-best-of-Lakers-Magic second

Let's see some other ideas that might work:
#22 Brooklyn for #25 + #33 + #35. The Nets need depth and might go for three rookies to balance the bench (eventually). But is moving up 3 slots good enough?

#19 Atlanta and Kent Bazemore for #25 + #35 + Fournier. The Hawks get a SG/SF upgrade and depth whilst dumping Bazemore's bad contract. This actually looks OK for Orlando. At #19 a marginal starter might get found: e.g. Justin Jackson or Harry Giles.

#17 Milwaukee and Matthew Dellavedova and John Henson for #25 + #33 + #35 + next-year's-best-of-Lakers-Magic second + Fournier + Biyambo. This has similar advantages as the above. And really helps the Bucks gain key depth in their coming playoff runs.

In the end, true trade-down ideas will be difficult to construct.

You never focus on getting "scoring" via draft. That's easily obtainable via free agency. We need to go BPA and completely ignore fit.

- Alpha personality
- Athletic
- Good shooter
- Leader
- Oozing potential

Trade up for Jackson or settle for Dennis Smith and address other needs via free agency.

Moving up from 25 with both 33 and 35 I think is a mistake. I rather take as many shots at finding someone then trading 3 picks for moving up 3 spots for a player on the same tier as players we will get at 25, 33, and 35.

Wasting assets for no reason in this way is what got us where we are now.

Green without ability to pass. He had 10 games last season with 0 assists, only one game above 3 assist ( 5) .

Starting level PG and SF with one of them being star or at least having star potential.

Backup PF would be nice too .

I think that only depends on the players that are available at #25

If a top tier talent player falls you do it without hesitation. Later picks in my eyes are for that exact reason, high risk high reward kinda deals.

I'll easily trade up for Bam,Giles,Diallo,Jackson.

I like this approach. We have a D-league affiliate. Get a solid contributor at 6...swing for the fences with the others in this deep draft.

Green averaged 0.8 apg his Freshman year. With Isaac at 1.2, does that make him a 50% better passer?
(To be fair, Isaac had more mpg than Green in their respective Freshman years, so their stats per minute do favour Green).

My point: it has been widely noted that Isaac was poorly used at FSU his Freshman year.
