I like Dsj too. I think Dsj will be able to come in and contribute more quickly but Isaac has the more long term upside. I think the Giannis comparison is fair. Isaacs a potentially elite rebounder, shot blocker, and defender. He's not as athletic but I think he will also be a more capable shooter especially from long range.

If the MAN/HAM duo wants to start off with a bang, make every effort to acquire BOTH DSJr and Isaac. Its gonna cost but that would be a very strong building core for the future. Anybody but AG on the table.

I proposed an alternative that may be realistic. Trade Vuc or Evan to the Kings for their 10th pick. Take DSJ with 6 and Markennen at 10. That way we have a starting PG and C for years. Plus we can work the DSJ/AG pick and roll to death since Markennen is a true stretch 5.

Not as sexy as DSJ and Isaac (which would be amazing), but maybe more realistic.

Couple things to consider about Hambone -

-He earned the following draft picks based on our team's record
10th
15th
10th
14th
15th
2nd
17th
10th
17th

Hambone has been remarkably consistently mediocre. Aka the worst place you can be in the NBA. The time we picked 2nd, we splurged on FA vets in the offseason and thought we would make the playoffs. Instead we sucked more than Hinkie's first year as GM. A team that wasn't trying to win a single game. We finished with the worst record in the league by 4 games.

-Hambone's free agent record and trade record is an abomination and can not be in dispute. The Myth of John Hammond master drafter is largely a hoax. Joe Alexander, Brandon Jennings, John Henson, Larry Sanders, Rashard Vaughn did nothing to improve the Milwaukee Bucks franchise. Those picks set us back years and we are still paying for it.

Obviously Giannis was a home run, but our roster was so devoid of talent at the time, Hambone had no choice but to take a chance. Draft express had Giannis 8th on their big board, so it's not like that was some visionary pick. Thon on the other hand was much more of a gamble...if that pans out Hambone will deserve a lot of credit.

- And finally... Our board was so fed up by Hambone's suckage we raised $5,000 dollars for a billboard urging the team to tank the year we got the 2nd pick. If that doesn't convey how unhappy we were with Hambone - nothing will.

Looks like GM Hammond wins more trades than lost trades.

June 26, 2008: Traded Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons to the New Jersey Nets for Richard Jefferson.

Excellent trade.

August 13, 2008: As part of a 3-team trade, the Milwaukee Bucks traded Desmond Mason to the Oklahoma City Thunder; the Milwaukee Bucks traded Mo Williams to the Cleveland Cavaliers; the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Damon Jones to the Milwaukee Bucks; the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Joe Smith to the Oklahoma City Thunder; and the Oklahoma City Thunder traded Adrian Griffin and Luke Ridnour to the Milwaukee Bucks.

So: Desmond Mason and Mo Williams for Damon Jones, Adrian Griffin, and Luke Ridnour. Williams had good, not great years with the Cavs. Desmond Mason was a scrub after this trade. For that the Bucks got Jones-scrub, Griffin-bench warmer and Ridnour-OK'ish. This was not a win for the Bucks, but Williams was very expensive for his stat line.

February 5, 2009: Traded Tyronn Lue to the Orlando Magic for Keith Bogans and cash.

Epic trade of the year!

June 23, 2009: Traded Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Fabricio Oberto and Kurt Thomas.

Good trade.

June 23, 2009: Traded Fabricio Oberto to the Detroit Pistons for Amir Johnson.

Irrelevant to both teams.

July 31, 2009: Traded Malik Allen to the Denver Nuggets for Walter Sharpe, Sonny Weems and cash.

Allen was traded for cash??? Great trade!

August 18, 2009: Traded Amir Johnson and Sonny Weems to the Toronto Raptors for Carlos Delfino and Roko Ukic.

Good trade.

February 18, 2010: Traded Francisco Elson and Jodie Meeks to the Philadelphia 76ers for Primoz Brezec, Royal Ivey and a 2010 2nd round draft pick (Darington Hobson was later selected).

Irrelevant to both teams.

February 18, 2010: Traded Joe Alexander, Hakim Warrick and a 2010 1st round draft pick (Kevin Seraphin was later selected) to the Chicago Bulls for John Salmons, a 2010 1st round draft pick (Larry Sanders was later selected), a 2011 2nd round draft pick (Isaiah Thomas was later selected) and a 2012 2nd round draft pick (Robert Sacre was later selected).

Considering the players, a good trade. But no real effect.

June 22, 2010: Traded Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric to the Golden State Warriors for Corey Maggette and a 2010 2nd round draft pick (Jerome Jordan was later selected).

Marginal relevance, but a net win.

June 24, 2010: Sold Jerome Jordan to the New York Knicks.

LOL

July 21, 2010: Traded Darnell Jackson and a 2011 2nd round draft pick (Isaiah Thomas was later selected) to the Sacramento Kings for Jon Brockman.

So, the (eventual) rights to Isaiah Thomas was traded for Jon Brockman. Not sure what to do with that information.

June 23, 2011: As part of a 3-team trade, the Milwaukee Bucks traded Jimmer Fredette and John Salmons to the Sacramento Kings; the Milwaukee Bucks traded Corey Maggette to the Charlotte Bobcats; the Charlotte Bobcats traded Tobias Harris, Stephen Jackson and Shaun Livingston to the Milwaukee Bucks; the Sacramento Kings traded Bismack Biyombo to the Charlotte Bobcats; and the Sacramento Kings traded Beno Udrih to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Value trade.

December 9, 2011: Traded Keyon Dooling and a 2013 2nd round draft pick to the Boston Celtics for Albert Miralles. Boston did not receive the 2nd round draft pick from Milwaukee because it was top 44 protected.

Lost this one.

March 13, 2012: Traded Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson to the Golden State Warriors for Kwame Brown, Monta Ellis and Ekpe Udoh.

Frankly any trade for Brown must mean a loss. But here, that Bogut was key for the Warriors, this is awful.

June 27, 2012: Traded Jon Brockman, Jon Leuer, Shaun Livingston and a 2012 1st round draft pick (Jeremy Lamb was later selected) to the Houston Rockets for Samuel Dalembert, cash, a 2012 1st round draft pick (John Henson was later selected) and a 2014 2nd round draft pick (Nemanja Dangubic was later selected).

Terrible trade.

February 21, 2013: Traded Tobias Harris, Doron Lamb, Beno Udrih and cash to the Orlando Magic for Gustavo Ayon, J.J. Redick and Ishmael Smith.

Lost this trade.

July 10, 2013: As part of a 3-team trade, the Milwaukee Bucks traded J.J. Redick to the Los Angeles Clippers; the Los Angeles Clippers traded a future 2nd round draft pick to the Milwaukee Bucks; the Los Angeles Clippers traded Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler to the Phoenix Suns; the Phoenix Suns traded Jared Dudley to the Los Angeles Clippers; and the Phoenix Suns traded a 2014 2nd round draft pick (Lamar Patterson was later selected) to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Traded for two 2nds means a player dump. I guess these are always losses in that player assets are given away. But these trades need to happen from time to time to make a team better.

July 11, 2013: As part of a 3-team trade, the Milwaukee Bucks traded Szymon Szewczyk to the Oklahoma City Thunder; the Minnesota Timberwolves traded Luke Ridnour and a 2014 2nd round draft pick (Johnny O'Bryant was later selected) to the Milwaukee Bucks; the Oklahoma City Thunder traded cash to the Milwaukee Bucks; and the Oklahoma City Thunder traded Kevin Martin and cash to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

No real effect to the Bucks. Push.

July 12, 2013: Traded Luc Mbah a Moute to the Sacramento Kings for a future 2nd round draft pick and a future 2nd round draft pick.

Another player dump.

July 31, 2013: Traded Brandon Jennings to the Detroit Pistons for Brandon Knight, Viacheslav Kravtsov and Khris Middleton.

Good trade.

August 29, 2013: Traded Viacheslav Kravtsov and Ishmael Smith to the Phoenix Suns for Caron Butler.

Net improvement.

February 20, 2014: Traded Gary Neal and Luke Ridnour to the Charlotte Bobcats for Jeff Adrien and Ramon Sessions.

Very good trade.

June 29, 2014: Traded a 2015 2nd round draft pick and a 2019 2nd round draft pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Jason Kidd.

Huge coaching upgrade.

August 26, 2014: Traded Carlos Delfino, Miroslav Raduljica and a 2015 2nd round draft pick to the Los Angeles Clippers for Jared Dudley and a 2017 1st round draft pick. (Milwaukee's acquired 2017 1st-round pick is protected.)

Looks like this will be a win.

February 19, 2015: As part of a 3-team trade, the Milwaukee Bucks traded Brandon Knight and Kendall Marshall to the Phoenix Suns; the Philadelphia 76ers traded Michael Carter-Williams to the Milwaukee Bucks; the Phoenix Suns traded Tyler Ennis and Miles Plumlee to the Milwaukee Bucks; and the Phoenix Suns traded a future 1st round draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers. (PHI 1st round pick received from PHO is LAL's and is top-5 protected in 2015 and top-3 protected in 2016 & 2017.)

Any trade involving the acquisition of Carter-Williams should be classified as a loss. But there is a net player asset gain here.

June 11, 2015: Traded Ersan Ilyasova to the Detroit Pistons for Caron Butler and Shawne Williams.

Win.

June 25, 2015: Traded Norman Powell and a 2017 1st round draft pick to the Toronto Raptors for Greivis Vasquez.

Irrelevant.

July 9, 2015: Traded Jared Dudley to the Washington Wizards for Future 2nd-round pick.

Irrelevant.

July 9, 2015: Traded Zaza Pachulia to the Dallas Mavericks for Future 2nd-round pick.

Clear loss.

June 23, 2016: Traded Patrick McCaw to the Golden State Warriors for $2.4M cash.

LOL

July 7, 2016: Traded Albert Miralles and $200K to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Matthew Dellavedova. Cleveland create $4.8M trade exception with this deal

Excellent trade.

September 22, 2016: Traded Tyler Ennis to the Houston Rockets for Michael Beasley.

Win

October 17, 2016: Traded Michael Carter-Williams to the Chicago Bulls for Tony Snell.

Getting rid of Carter-Williams makes this a win, for me.

February 2, 2017: Traded Miles Plumlee and cash considerations to the Charlotte Hornets for Spencer Hawes and Roy Hibbert.

Mild loss.

February 23, 2017: Traded Roy Hibbert to the Denver Nuggets for a 2019 2nd round draft pick. (Pick is heavily protected and unlikely to convey)

Player dump. (Why would the league allow this trade of nothing for nothing ???

None of those three point guards are difference makers. Jennings was a risky pick...a swing for the fences, so to speak. This type of pick is a Hammond trademark. You hit but you can miss, as well. Do remember, Jennings, in trade, brought in Knight (ug) and Middleton (Yay).

I would not go that far to say that they are not difference makers. They are not first tear stars but they are pretty damn good PGs to have. Jrue and Teague will both get payed this year, where Jennings can only pray that he will stay in the league.

Probably. Him being a Florida boy does add some extra incentives. Would be nice to have a Florida born star play for his home team.

I like your comments, but 2 I noticed we differ on are the Jennings trade that brought in Middleton, and the McCaw trade for cash. This was an amazing trade, as Middleton is an all around great player. Also, you LOLd the McCaw for cash trade. I'm assuming you were laughing because it was a bad trade? Last I saw, McCaw was starting for the stacked Warriors because they really dig his defense! Anyway, just thought I'd add my 2 cents. I upped your "good" trade to "excellent", and took your LOL and turned it into a loss. :D

I can't believe how negative some fans can be. We just took 2 playoff teams GMs and brought them to Orlando. Guys with proven track records of turning around franchises. It's much better than what we have had the last 5 seasons.

If the MAN/HAM duo wants to start off with a bang, make every effort to acquire BOTH DSJr and Isaac. Its gonna cost but that would be a very strong building core for the future. Anybody but AG on the table.

I'm right there with you. But we are not getting a lottery pick without giving up AG. or at least 2 future firsts. The question is would you rather have JI or AG.

I remember that because by some weird reason I used to lurke on your boards as I found you guys to be funny to read. Even on those bad times, your threads were gold as they were filled with people with a big sense of (self-deprecated) humour.
I remember how much you guys wanted your entire FO to be kicked out of town.
That's why I'm not getting all excited about this news.

BTW, I also read your board a lot after that Tobias trade for Redick. First, because Redick remains one of my favourite players, and secondly because that watch thread you had for Tobias was pure gold!

Diallo decided to go back to UK. I take Jawun Evans with the 25th instead. With the 33 go SG with someone like Josh Hart or Thornwell.

Do you have a link? I can't find anything saying Diallo has made a decision. He has until 11:59pm.

Nice, thanks for contributing. It's good to hear both the pros and cons of the acquisition.

He seems hit and miss, but I guess he's had enough good hits for us to remain hopeful. Middleton as a throw in. Giannis. Brogdon. Thon. The Parker pick was something he would've struggled to screw up. Sanders was actually a great piece, he was just a headcase.

It's been nice to hear that the Giannis pick gave the team more confidence to take a reach on someone like Thon later on. So maybe the old dog has learned some new tricks? We need to be taking those sorts of gambles to try and find a true steal in the draft.

What are your thoughts on the Brandon Knight for MCW trade? Do you think the team would've been better off keeping Knight in the end?

Eh... let me get him on the phone and ask him what he thinks of Vucevic and Fournier, then I'll let you know my opinion on him.

Seeing as though both the Raps and Milwaukee had similar players in Val and Monroe, I have a hunch that they're going to like Vuc.

Hopefully they've seen how stagnant the team has been under Vuc for the past 5 years, though, and choose not to explore that route again.

Not that he shouldn't be moved or that I wouldn't be for a change but That's an unfair statement.

What were your expectations of Nik as a throw in to the Howard trade to begin with? The first 3 years we were going to inevitably be bad and the players we've added haven't made us better. So how does that fall in Nik? We've been stagnant with every single player on this roster past and present.

It's not an unfair statement. The team has pretty much been run through Vuc for most of the past 4 seasons, and we've been hitting our heads against the ceiling of our potential the entire time by playing that way.

My hope is that if we keep Vuc, then Vogel is able to continue developing his defense, but also that he finally takes his place on the bench where he belongs and where all other teams keep players like him. Even Hammond comes from a team that put the very similar Monroe on the bench. Doesn't mean he won't still be high usage, he can still log 25mpg+ off the bench. He was killer for us at the start of the season.

He just seems to be talented enough to fool coaches into using him more than he should be, but not actually talented enough to turn those opportunities into consistent wins. I've seen every iteration of the Vuc experiment with the Magic for the past 5 years and I'm tired of it.

I think everyone is up for grabs if the right deal presents itself. But I'm inclined to give some other guys opportunities to play with a new focal point who's not Vuc, to see if that helps or hinders them - then look to make more moves from there.

The Bucks were right to trade away Knight. Both his and Middleton's contracts were expiring soon and the front office chose to invest in Middleton (definitely the right choice). However, the Bucks screwed up big time by trading for MCW when they could have cut the Sixers out of the deal and simply traded Knight to the Suns for the Lakers protected first-rounder. Most people assume that was a Kidd move though. Essentially, the Bucks chose MCW over the pick. Hammond made a great move to fix it by getting Snell for MCW but that's one of the problems he's had in Milwaukee. Too many of Hammond's good moves are to correct bad ones.

Homerun draft. Really hope it works like that, but I can't believe those guys last that long by the time the draft rolls around. Even Isaac, I am concerned he could rise, and I know somebody drops, but who and why, id rather just draft tomorrow and take Isaac at #6. If we with end up with one of diallo or Jackson I will be happy.
