Vuc
So I read the following some place else.
Have any of you heard that Vuc has these issues or is a problem on the team?
I have never heard he has a toxic personality.
Thoughts?
$10.7 million won't net the Magic more than another role player in this market, but getting off Nikola Vucevic's contract at $25 million over the next two years would get them into conversations with some of the starter-level free agents available. Vucevic is yet another player on this roster who could be a value on the right team, but his seemingly toxic personality and insistence on starting hurts his reputation around the league. At this point, moving him, even for no return, would be a good move for Orlando, who can't hope to placate his desire to be a starter and move forward with the development of Aaron Gordon and Isaac.

It's smart IMO if Vuc's ego won't accept a bench role then I'd ship him out for a 2nd rounder if we can't get anything else. He's a ball stopper who shoots the most inefficient shot. He isn't getting to the rim or shooting FTs much. His defense while it has gotten better is still soft and he's not athletic enough to switch.
He's #1 on my gotta go list.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Re: Vuc
Vucevic isn't toxic at all, he just is really entitled.
What annoys me more than anything is when he gets scored on and throws the ball at the stanchion 10 times a game. We often can't run afterwards because the ball is busy rolling on the sidelines.

Vucevic.
Beyond past time to deal him. The problem is, I don't think his actual trade value is anything close to what we would like.
Vucevic is no longer a valued commodity in the league. He, along with guys like Kanter and Okafor....are dinosaurs in today's league.
I would not expect a great return for him when he is moved.

Re: Vuc
I'd be happy with cap space for him. I'd like more, but I think with the amount of shots that'd go around to the younger, higher-ceiling players then it'd be addition by subtraction. Toxic is too strong of a word though.

Totally agreed. He's not toxic. He's just not a good in court fit as anything but a mop up big. It's time we stop trying to make this guy more than what he is.
I actually think cap space is better than whatever player return we can get for him.

Add Greg Monroe to that list. I think it's comical that they have a big story every few months that Monroe is on the trade market. Like no one knew.

Re: Vuc
Say what you want about Vuc but right now he is our best player and him being pissed is warranted. I am not the biggest Vuc fan but even I acknowledge we treated him like crap last year. Trading for Ibaka and ask him to please and work with him since we wanted him to stay, sending him to the bench, starting Biz over him, bringing him back to the SL, etc.
It was not a good year for Vuc but I don't blame it all on him. Vogel misused him, Hennigan put a sh*tty team around him that can't hit the water if they were in the ocean, and then we point the fingers at him for his shortcomings.
Despite all that he is still our longest tenured player and was the first to show promise after we traded dwight. I agree that it may be time to move on and get value for him since we will most likely rebuild and he deserves to go somewhere to win. Even with all the crap we have given him, he still remains loyal. Yeah, he shows his frustrations but I like that in a player. At least he is not requesting for trades or creating drama like dwight.
Before giving up on Vuc, there are 3-4 players on this team I would ship out and get the hell out of orlando before trading Vuc.

I don't think Vucevic is our best player at all. I would probably give that to Gordon.
Vucevic is a bad defender and inefficient on offense. We are worse on both ends when he plays in my opinion

Before Skiles and Vogel, he was our best player. He was looking like one of the best young Centers in the league. Skiles comes in and he and Henny want to turn him into a 3 pt threat, then Vogel gets here and Henny brings in Biz and they send him to the bench and back to start all season. I don't blame him for being annoyed, the last two seasons the team has not helped him. Once upon a time he was putting up nearly 18 ppg and 12+ rpg, between 2012-2015.

If Vuc is a bad defender then who in the team isnt? Gordon sucked defensively in the paint. He was worse then Ibaka and his rebounding weren't even as good as Vuc, Ibaka, or even Biz. If you're going to criticize Vuc postD, then point out Gordons. He sucked defensively as a PF this season. Guarding SF on defense is another story. There he did his job well. Which is why we will move on with the Isaac/AG duo that can switch heavily on offense/defense. Defense, AG moves to the 3, offense, Isaac is our 4.
Saying that we were worse on both ends with him and better with Biz at the C just tells me you didnt watch enough games and have it out for Vuc. Biz was freaking awful on both ends. He is an energy player but you dont pay that skill 17mil/per. He has no offensive talents. The guy cant even catch the ball and we are a better offensive team with him than Vuc? You lose the right to be taken seriously with that argument.

And what was the Magic's record between 2012-2015? Remember Terry Catledge was an almost 20ppg player for the Magic during their expansion years and no one was going to confuse the Cat man as nothing more than a solid role player.

Re: RE: Re: Vuc
How? Despite his offensive struggles, Vuc still leads the team in PER 1ith 19.1 and was one of the 3 players on the team that had a positive BPM. Elf ranked #2 right behind Vuc in all those categories. I know he was stuffing up the stat sheet towards the end but throughout the whole season, he was our second best player based on stats. He needs to be elite in all other areas to make up for his lack of shooting. If he could hit that three at 34-35%, we would be untouchable.Jameerthefear wrote:OrlandoDream wrote:Say what you want about Vuc but right now he is our best player and him being pissed is warranted. That's not the point, we had lost a lot of talent and not much cap space. The point is he showed a lot of promise and was well on his way to being one of the leagues best young Centers, before the past two seasons.

14 points on 14 shots doesn't help an offense as much as you think it does.

Lol, when we have to decide who is best player on roster between Vuc, Fournier and Gordon you know we are fked up.
No wonder we suck last few years.

At this point, moving him, even for no return, would be a good move for Orlando, who can't hope to placate his desire to be a starter and move forward with the development of Aaron Gordon and Isaac.
every player we have had for the past 5 years, if they dont become a superstar (and none have) the board eventually says they have to accept a 6th man role or leave. apparently we can only have superstar starters.
