Re: Vegas odds on Magic's under/over at 40.5
Didn't it get changed to 36? I thought I heard that on the radio yesterday.
Either way, I don't get it. Issac is a project, and so far we haven't made any real moves during FA.
At this point, I'm completely fine with just rounding out the roster and going from there. See if Payton and/or Gordon make the 4th-year jump, and watch Issac begin his career. Get another top-5 pick and continue the Rebuild Part 2.

Seeing us not make any moves yet which I am totally fine with btw and also hearing our new President and GM saying they wanted to sit back and evaluate this year I am predicting 25 wins. I think they will play the young guys and let them make mistakes and learn from them. Maybe we make a deadline deal moving Vooch or something as well. I am having a hard time being optimistic like I usually am but this is the best I got right now haha.

I just saw a line @ 36.5. 40.5 is madness. I really don't see us in the same groip as Miami and Philly. I hope people locked in their bets when the line was 40.5

I was just looking and we're projected as 7th in the East.

You are going to be disappointed if you are hoping for a tank season. I would bet a house (just not mine) that Orlando wins more than 31 games.

Massive injury issues would be needed for this. I look at something in the 8-11 range.
Edit: of course the Magic could just miss the playoffs and go top-3 in the lottery. I am cool with that!

36.5
The year before was closer, I believe. IMO Vegas has pretty good prediction records.

At 36, this is a tough bet for me. The homer in me says "vote over." But Vučević would need a 70+ game season for that, and he has been injury prone.
A tough bet at 36 !

Same team as last year essentially and 40+ wins? Lmao. This is a bad team.

Banging the under here. Hard.
If you see something suspicious, say something suspicious.

They drink from the same well as 538.
We had a perfect storm of underachieving last year, marking the season as a probable outlier. Also, our youth allows for a lot of improvement to come organically.
I still voted the under. Just a knee jerk reaction. I can and probably will talk myself into projecting a playoff berth the closer we get to October, but that is how I roll.

Our SRS (based on the margin of victory and strength of opponents) indicated that we should have lost even more games actually. Basketballreference.com had us at 24 expected wins based on the SRS.

Re: Vegas odds on Magic's under/over at 40.5
Here's what could reasonably happen to get to 40.5...Meaning, many things that are NOT locks that COULD go right...
1. Hezonja is our star rookie (reborn/recommitted/things just "click"). His projected skill set, size, and aggressive demeanor basically would provide what our roster needs most...a young, inexpensive, developing, long wing who can shoot and pass and play with fire.
2. Unload Augustin and Watson for future cap space, expirings, late picks whatever. Augustin could contribute to a good team, not ours. As much as I like Vuc, I feel kind of the same way about him.
3. Mack provides a stable, smart, error-free backup PG. Augustin was the opposite-though occasionally, could shoot.
4. Isaac develops as a younger, longer, faster Draymond East (I know, but just on the same "path", do whatever's needed, High IQ 6th man for now)-block a big shot, hit a big 3, make a big steal, switch on perimeter-cause defensive chaos with AG and EP.
5. EP and AG keep playing like they were, aggressive, angry, smart...hit just enough to keep D's honest. Both, along with Mario are Most Improved candidates.
6. Biz beasts on D, offensive glass, stays in his lane on O, sets teeth-rattling screens, cuts down mistakes.
7. Fournier and Ross stabilize...hit shots, spread the floor, occasional 25 point outbursts, play smart, play D, move the ball.
Unlikely that all come true, but you can't tell me that at least some of them couldn't. I think stability and organic growth among this group has been absent and, fingers crossed, some of those guys have yet to blossom under Vogel (who has a history of not sucking-even though I was baffled by a lot of things last year...maybe FO, ownership/goals were confusing and unclear).

I'm gonna say under but no so much. We won 32 last year in Vogel's first season. I think we'd win more now that AG is in the right position and this being Vogel's second year.

actual over/under is 36.5 just like last year... need to redo the poll.
