What if the decision to sign Biz and DJ while forcing AG to SF was really Hennigans plan all along? There is no proof either way. Hennigan had his 5 years and failed. Many GM's don't even get that long to produce a bottom feeder.

 plenty of proof and you know it. Not getting into this with you.

This is the absolute first that I have heard it as I have never saw a single present or former Magic employee or NBA Analyst say this. Can you please provide me some verified proof? Thanks in advance.

Nope you have read plenty of proof, from plenty of people on here. You choose to stay blind, that is ok. We aren't doing this again. I'm done on this topic with you.

I have read nothing but claims and hypothesis. No actual proof. Unless you can provide some, then you are just expressing your opinions and stating them as facts.

What do you most wanna see from this team this year?

Post#64 » by PrimeThyme » Tue Jul 18, 2017 12:05 am

I want to see this team embrace the youth movement. This is the year that I believe we see whether AG is a star or not. I want us to put him in the best position possible and give him an increased role and usage and let's see what he can do with it. I want to play fast, && I want to see the ball in Elfs hands at all times as the main playmaker, not Evan this year.

I want to see Isaac have a defined role playing 20-25 minutes consistently all year. This is also the make or break year for Mario so I need him to get consistent minutes from day 1. Whether that's at backup PF or backup 3, I don't want to see another year where our 5th overall pick is in the dog house.

As long as the youth movement is at the forefront, I will not be campaigning for the tank at all costs this year. This draft is very wing heavy and I feel that with Isaac we have our wing/forward to build with. It's been a long 5 years so if the youth movement leads us to the playoffs this year I would welcome it. I think that would be a positive and would bring much needed excitement and hope back to the franchise.

Here's to hoping that this year goes a lot better than last. Last year was the hardest season I can remember enduring as a magic fan so I'm hoping that a season full of development and possibly the playoffs can make up for it.

Looking forward to the game threads again this year. Let's hope they don't have to be as hostile of an environment as they were last year lol

I think it's time to let him do his thing.

I would also really like to see our team chemistry get better and less buddy ball or passing guys up that they don't trust, if our players don't trust each other, then we've already lost.

Those are the two things I wanna see most. How about you guys?

I hate that term "Buddy ball" we have some of the worst shooters in the NBA in the SL. It's not buddy ball imo is passing to the guys that can actually score. Fournier driving and kicking to Payton or AG out on the perimeter is not a better option than passing to an open Vucevic.

I do think however that we need to see if playing our scorers off the ball more is truly an option as it was the second half or if it was just successful because it was the second half and they weren't getting other teams best effort.

I want to see all of the guys on our team make strides. Especially Mario.

I don't think it needs to be a case of pass then shoot. We just need better ball movement in general, and multiple passes. I want to see Spurs/Hawks style ball movement.

Even though Elf and AG aren't great shooters, they can still get the ball and keep it moving, or make a small move to disrupt the defense and then keep the ball moving.

There's a lot less anti-tank than I expected. This has been a very positive and optimistic thread. Hopefully the team doesn't disappoint and shows everyone why we should be positive!

Competitiveness and grit mostly. Often times over the past 5 years guys would just slump their shoulders and give up which is part of why I like the Simmons signing. He's a guy that goes out there and plays hard no matter what the score he's had to fight and scrap for everything he's gotten. Be a good example for our younger players to follow. All I've ever asked of any Magic team over the years is to play hard and compete. Seems like the young guys will get ample opportunities to show something right off the bat as well.

I want to see all of the guys on our team make strides. Especially Mario.

I hate that term as well, but it's also not fair that Fournier gets to make that decision all on his own and decide not to trust certain teammates. I'm one of the few people that love Fournier and Vuc, but Fournier needs to try to get everyone involved when they're open if he continues to have the ball in his hands. That's not a role he's comfortable with so I understand his struggles while trying to make plays for others, but that's why I want the ball in Payton's hands so he can make those plays since he's comfortable making them.

Btw, the main thing I meant by buddy ball was that we need to move the ball more in general. It should not be a decision between forcing up a bad contested shot or pass it to Vuc and that's it. It should be if you don't have the shot, pass it up and move the ball around and most importantly, the thing we fail to do every year it seems, move without the ball. We need more stuff like cutting without the ball, off ball screens, stuff like that. We wouldn't need to worry about spacing as much if we ran more off ball stuff because we'd be keeping the defenders on their toes and making them move around and switch and they couldn't just camp the paint.
I hate the term because it creates this false narrative that Fournier and Vuc only like each other and hate the other players on the team.

I think its absolutely fair that Fournier makes that decision because the coaching staff trusted him with the ball. They gave the ball to payton second half of the season because he earned imo. Despite all of my concerns he played hard and got everyone involved. A passive Elfrid Payton is useless to us so if he's going to be passive then they need to give the ball to someone else.

I agree that there needs to be more ball movement but if guys are going to be scared to shoot when they get the ball, like Payton, AG, and Mario all did last season then they wont get it and I'm fine with that. Because by those guys not taking those open shots they bail out the defense. Even though I think they're both atrocious shooters, I'd rather them shoot wide open 3's so there's a chance we get an offensive rebound with Vuc down there if its a miss, than the play resulting in a botched possession.

Spacing is what makes things like moving without the ball, cutting to the basket, attacking the basket, and posting up possible. Its what makes teams have to move and scramble and not camp the paint on defense. Cutting doesn't do that with this team. If our team started cutting more for back door baskets and more movement off the ball, teams could just switch to a zone and completely eliminate our offense. Matter of fact with our lack of shooting Im surprised more teams didnt zone us up. Maybe they did and I was just too busy laughing every time our $17 million dollar center looked like Dasagna Diop.

I agree Get the ball out of Fournier and Nik's hands and keep the ball moving. However, imo spacing is the catalyst to everything else working. We are what we are though and I think the spacing is going to be bad thus I dont think we're going to see much of a difference on offense. I'm hoping we can replicate the ball movement free flowing style we saw second half of last season but I largely think it had a lot to do with timing. We'll see.

I want to see this team win a championship.
I want to see anyone of our rooks do well enough that I can talk about them on the general board (Not brag, just mention that they are actually good).
I want to see someone on our team actually break out and have an all star season.
I want to see Aaron, Elfrid and Mario to actually show up for the entire year and do well...

Oh yeah...I want to see a team that can actually shoot.

What I want?

I want this team to reach that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.

For the players to realize and capitalize their potential to become better players in the league.

To the make and break players: Either step up this season or step down completely.

For Frank Vogal to learn from his mistakes with this team and do better with the players under his charge. Especially with improving his Xs' and Os' strategies.

Get this team back to respectability and compete on da nightly basis.

Get at least 40 wins or something better this upcoming season.

Get into the playoffs.

What I remember most about out rise with Dwight Howard was watching how much our guys seemed to genuinely enjoy each other and playing for one another.

I want to see Payton play with confidence and vigor every game

I want to see AG do the same while both of them enjoy some winning and success.

I want to see Vuc accept a role that benefits his team--whatever that might mean. Same goes for Evan.

I would REALLY like to see Isaac EARN some substantial playing time and perform, maybe be in the running for ROY.

I would like to see Mario turn into an NBA player, even if that means he's a specialist that just runs motion and hits a few threes a game like Jason Terry or Robert Mason Jr. or Anthony Morrow or something.

I'd like to see Simmons turn into the high-value player that most of us see him as.

Most importantly, whether we make the POs or win around 35 games, I want to see us play competitively every night, keep games close with everyone, and see our guys enjoy playing for Orlando, enjoy playing with one another, enjoy playing for Vogel. It would do A LOT for chemistry and development if we had that.

Return to Orlando Magic
