Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Tue Jul 25, 2017 1:31 am

Read on Twitter

Second Round Pick Wesley Iwundu has signed a guaranteed three-year deal.

That is 13 guaranteed contracts for when Marreese Speights officially signs.

Congrats to Iwundu! He must have a great agent or really impressed the Magic brass to command all 3 years fully guaranteed?

I'm totally okay with this! 1.3m/yr for a player that can possibly play significant role player minutes and be a great trade chip down the road.

I believe there's 0% chance now Iwundu isn't a 2 way contract. If you are a guaranteed contract and on the 15 man roster, they can't sign you as a 2 way contract. I was hoping Iwundu wasn't a 2 way contract.

So what. That has no bearing on having Mace Windu play in the G-League, and we are free to sign two undrafted players to those 2-way deals.

Guaranteed all 3 years? For a guy that did not look all that good in summer league, hope they know what they are doing.

Third year is a Team option
Like iwundu s game, his ability to play the 2,3,4 with his 7,1 wingspan and ballhandling is interesting

Solid move to have a team option for the third year.

Good for Iwundu! I like the kid even if he wasn't amazing in Summer League. His length and ball handling are good, but he will never be able to break the rotation if he doesn't bulk up, so that's priority number one for him. Thankfully he will be given time to do that, but the strength and conditioning staff definitely have their work cut out for them with both him and Issac. In the meantime, I think he will be a solid enough end of the bench guy. Probably won't play except for garbage time and if there are a handful of injuries to our wings. I wish him luck though, I definitely find myself rooting for him.

Congrats to Iwundu. Hope he pours his heart out and becomes a Draymond type.

Not surprised 3rd year is a team option. Contract details are not always clear at first.

Hopefully he can be a solid role player for us. Didn't dazzle in summer league but as long as his wingspan doesn't shrink at all he should have a spot on the roster.

High second rounders do often have key roles. But for this kind of deal, Iwundu must really be lighting it up in the training rooms!

Should be exciting!

In his rookie year his main job will be as a practice squad player. Interesting in that it means that his main job will often be to guard Isaac. These two get to be part of each other's history.

(And both are the bellmen for the Magic vets :D :D :D  )

Orlando really likes him and did well in private workouts. Usually, high seconds get pretty good deals and my feeling is if Orlando had no second round picks, they either would have traded down or taken Iwundu at #25.

A lot of us liked the Issac pick. Let's see if Weltman and Hammond can work their Magic here.

Either way, it's a cheap contract basketball wise.

Looked like a bum in summer league. Hope he proves me wrong during the season.

Although I was underwhelmed, Im glad they signed him but why do people think wing span guarantees minutes? You have to be able to play the game.
