Not full time. He can play it in certain small-ball lineups for sure.

Payton/Ross/Fournier/Isaac/Gordon
I certainly expect spot minutes for this five. (although it is debatable if Isaac or Gordon is the C in that).

I 100% see JI or AG playing the 5 not full time but for specific match ups aka like Golden state

With Noel on offer, flipping Gordon in a (future) SNT would help bolster the Magic's rebounding, scoring, and team defense.

Stop talking about this. This is dumb, imo.
Will he play it part time? Maybe in very very limited situations, but he's not our future C. Jeez.

He's in the mix, but it's way too early to have a clear cut favorite.

People went from new Blake Griffin to "I'm thinking he could be a Anthony Davis/AK47 hybrid player for us! " and in mean time he is 11-12 ppg -6 rpg player without much offensive skills and ok but not elite defense. And when he played the best? When teams were tanking or resting for playoffs and magic were running like maniacs so he had chance to get lot of garbage putbacks and transition points. ( much like Kenneth Faried who in 2013-14, playing with highest pace team, averaged 20 ppg and 10 rpg in last two months just because fast pace allowed him to do so, not because he was that good )
+1
Looked it up, and was wowed by the answer.
Over three years, Gordon has been most similar to Ersan Ä°lyasova. In other words Gordon so far projects as an 14/7 guy as his best-ever year.
Over his career, Gordon is most similar to a combo-wing: Landry Fields. Gordon would be projected to do more than be a five-year mashup that is retired by 26.
But the stats are not kind for Gordon.
So what is the upside for Gordon, he has started his career not to dissimilar as Gordon Hayward. Hayward needed year-4 to have his first acceptable year. And years 5 and 6 were real break-out seasons statistically.
If Gordon wants to be more Hayward and less Ä°lyasova, this coming year he needs to be a 15/2/6 guy for the Magic.
..
I'm not here to hype up Gordon, but that's a totally unfair comparison. Fields came into the league as a rookie older than Gordon is right now.
I would expect this year to be a bit of a mini-break out for Gordon. I'm not expecting a super star, but I think he still has potential to be an All Star at some point.

I am not making such a comparison; statistics is. The most similar player to Gordon is Fields to this point. If Gordon has a 17/7 season, his career will start tracking other players.

Jokic, Whiteside, Nurkic, Dray, Gobert, Kanter/Adams, Gasol, Davis, Howard, Gortat. They will all overpower him

It basically depends on how fast he wants to play his team! We could really use Issac's versatility/length on defense to help cover the rim when needed, but he may not be ready for a lot of minutes yet.
All those guys mentioned above would have a hard time guarding AG on the perimeter if he plays the 5 more, so maybe that's why Vogel wants to play position less basketball more!

they would just let AG shoot from the outside since he hasnt proven that he can hit it consistently.

We should probably let him prove that he can play PF defensively before we try to crown him as the future Center.

I'm fully aware that it is a statistical comparison to this point.
What I'm saying is that it is flawed to use as a statistical comparison
To wit, you stated: "Over his career, Gordon is most similar to a combo-wing: Landry Fields. Gordon would be projected to do more than be a five-year mashup that is retired by 26.

No.
That's my issue with this.
- Gordon to this point has been a 19-21 year old.
- Fields' first three years (the basis of this comparison,) was a post four year college polished 22-24 year old.
Saying that statistically those first three years were the most similar is one thing. It's fact. To somehow apply it toward Gordon totally misses the huge age factor of those first three years and why despite the fact that they may have been the most similar, that Fields' lack of early success and overall career in no way paints a picture for Gordon's first three years and career potential/forecast.

And on top of this... their methodology is severely flawed for a variety of reasons. Win shares is a dubious statistic. They are doing nothing other than comparing this dubious statistic for similarity over Gordon's first three seasons. He is necessarily going to be compared to individuals that have accumulated no more than approximately 5.4 win shares in their highest season.
"Xatticus has always been, in my humble opinion best poster here. Should write articles or something."
