Too funny, grass isn't always greener.... Now all that time has passed impossible to get back..... Never understood why he felt he had to go to Hollywood to be a star when he was already one right here in Orlando.....90% of me feels like he made his bed and he has to sleep in it..... But that 10% of me kinda feels sorry for him.

The similarities to Shawn Kemp are pretty staggering!

Dwight threw everyone under the bus and after it all, jumped on the same bus and thought he was on a ride to Championshipland. Four bus stops later, he's realizing he missed his stop and kinda should have just stayed where he had it all and is now on a road to Nowhere, Forgottenland.

I do somewhat feel sorry for him, but this is his own doing and he's a victim of an evolving league/game and injuries, plus his body is aging and has done little to nothing to extend his game in any way.

Won't wish bad things on him, he is human after all, but he was warned after his trade request and before was traded, that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. It sure as hell wasn't in his case. He could well have a good season in Charlotte, but he will never be a big name in the game again and he'll never regain the same status he had in Orlando. Charlotte won't do any damage in the league while GSW, CLE, BOS, OKC and HOU are built as they are now and PHI and MIL coming up.

Sorry Dwight.

A cautionary tale if ever there was one.

Don't feel sorry for him one bit. He's the same as Shaq to me, F them both! Always and forever. They both royally screwed the organization, cost us championships and will never get sympathy from me.

How long until Dwight is a 30 for 30 episode on ESPN?

I don't feel bad for him, but I don't hate him either. I never did. Probably one of the few Magic fans that feel that way. I'll always have a grudge against Shaq more since he bolted after only 4 years (Dwight was here 8), though I've given a little bit of slack as I read more about how it all went down and how the Magic lowballed him. But I still begrudge him far more than Dwight.

Not surprised... But it has to do with a combination of outliers...

1. The system which gave him more room to operate and helped play to his strengths. He went to other places and they didn't really cater to his abilities.
2. The back-injury which cut down his athleticism since he was so reliant on it.
3. His inability to become a better post player as time went along with his athletic decline.
4. An attitude that wasn't justified through his skill level. He wasn't like Jordan or Bryant where you had to put up with him because was so good. You just got rid of him whenever he became toxic.

I'm indifferent. He wanted to go because he saw the team was getting worse and he wanted to go to a winning situation (preferably a big market like Brooklyn when they acquired Williams before his decline and Joe Johnson). I feel if he stayed here he would've yielded the same results as he just wasn't as effective after the back-injury. The Magic would've been a middling team with a declining Dwight Howard in a league that was transitioning into a space and pace league.

Its just sad that people want to see players fail for personal satisfaction.

Still have nothing against Dwight. We split at the right time. At his best he was a top 3 player in the league. Deserves his jersey number retired here IMO.

I could see retiring his jersey IF they had won a ring.

The article just proves what everyone else has known for a long time - Dwight is a mental midget and has paid the price for it

I thought he said as much a while back. Isn't this old news? Or maybe I'm thinking of T-Mac?

Happy that he's full of regret. He lost soooo much. Legacy and reputation tarnished. Orlando media protected him so much.

There's not a fan base out there that gives a rip about him. This pleases me.

This pisses me off. Everyone tells him he is an idiot for wanting to leave Orlando and of course we were right and now he realizes it. No sympathy from me.. He throws his team and coach under the bus yet Orlando still treated him like a god. I'm still a salty bitch about Shaq leaving and that is even accepting that a lot of it was our fault with the OS article and our lowball offer.

..
Last week: a what-if story about McGrady and this about Howard.

Summed together, the Magic could have had McGrady and Howard playing with Nelson and Türkoğlu. What if ???

..

(But this would not have happened):

Although I broke away early I was brought up in a sheltered environment where the only thing that mattered was religion. So in that regard I sympathize with him because the transition isn't easy when you're sheltered like that. Kids in that type of environment aren't taught how to properly deal with things that you'll inevitably face as an adult, they're wrapped in bubble wrap and their eyes covered.
So when it comes at you all at once its fun and exciting and you end up making bad choices.

I have no hate toward Dwight and I'm actually pulling for him to have a some type of resurgence on the Hornets and for him to end his career on a high note.
