Who Makes The Final 15 man Roster and Who Gets The 2nd Two-Way?

The Orlando Magic have to cut down from 20 to 17 (15 on the main and the 2 two-way players) by Monday.

These 14 players appear to be locks barring a trade to be on the roster along with Two-Way Player Adreian Payne makes 15.

Starters

SF: Evan Fournier
PF: Aaron Gordon
C: Nikola Vucevic
SG: Terrance Ross
PG: Elfrid Payton

Reserves

PF/SF: Jonathan Issac
SG/SF: Jonathon Simmons
C: Bismack Biyombo
SG/SF: Arron Afflalo
PG: D.J. Augustin
SG/SF: Mario Hezonja
PF/C: Marreese Speights
PG/SG: Shelvin Mack
SF: Wes Iwundu

Two-Way Players

PF/C: Adreian Payne

That Leaves

PF/C: Khem Birch
SF/PF: Damjan Rudez
SG: Troy Caupain
PG: Kalin Lucas
SG: Rodney Purvis

Either way, Khem Birch is going to get either the final spot on the 15 roster or the last two-way contract.

His contract can be converted into a Two-Way deal since he was guaranteed less than 50k.

The final spot is likely between him and Damjan Rudez who is non-guaranteed.

Given his play and the fact I don't want The Magic having two bigs on the Two-Way Contracts, I think Birch has earned the final spot.

As for the second Two-Way Contract, I'd check to see who becomes available off of the Waiver Wire but it would be nice to have a point guard there who could learn the system and come up and play if 2 of the 3 point guards are injured or unavailable to play.

Those are my thoughts. How does everyone else feel?

It would be very Magic to give Rudez the last spot and have Birch be the 2nd two-way.

Either way Birch should see some time on the court this season.

Isn't Payne out for significant time? Can we simply cut him and use that 2 way on someone else?

He broke his hand about 9 days ago and the G-League season doesn't start for another 22 days.

I doubt he'll miss all that much time over in Lakeland.

I would be absolutely floored if Birch isn't the 15th man.

I'd actually like to keep a spot open. I'd cut Mack (not sure of his contract specifics) & keep Birch.
There may be a better waived player available to us & this team isn't going to turn better or worse on our 3rd PG.

Vogel's probably doing his best to convince management to keep Rudez.

I expect the Magic to carry 14 players and 2 two-wayers. Birch might need to be fully promoted at some point in the season, given probable injuries to Vučević (should miss 10 games) and Speights.

Troy Caupain and Rodney Purvis were waived as expected.

They were obviously signed for Lakeland.

What about Aaron Harrison as 2 way contract? His brother is on the Grizzles, they both played college at Kentucky. Andrew is the better player but Aaron is just as good as his brother. How about Birch the 15th man and give Aaron Harrison the 2 way contract.

The question now is if Birch is on the 15 man roster or is getting the second two-way.

I think Rudez got the invite only because of his 3pt potential. If that was not the case, the FO placed zero value on Rudez. Birch is the proto-typical Weltman/Hammond player, and I like what they are doing with low to no $$$ available. 8-)

Is this a full rookie deal? If so that is $815,615 compared to an about 250k deal for a two-way player. That is a 325% increase in salary earned from his pre-season performance!

I am almost certain that it is the full rookie deal, the contract was for 2 years and only guaranteed if he is on the roster 10/18/17, or opening day.
