Orlando is 16-41 all-time vs. San Antonio (11-17 at home, 5-24 on the road) during the regular season, including 1-1 last season. The Magic snapped a 10-game losing skid to San Antonio on Nov. 29, 2016, but have lost 13 of the last 15 meetings overall. The Magic have lost the last six matchups at home (last win @ Orlando: Dec. 23, 2010, 123-101) and seven of the last eight on the road. Assistant Coach Chad Forcier spent nine years as an assistant with the Spurs from 2007-16. Jonathon Simmons spent his first two NBA seasons (2015-17) with San Antonio, appearing in 133 games with the Spurs.

BEST ALL-TIME SCORING PERFORMANCE VS. SPURS: 38 pts., Tracy McGrady (@ San Antonio, 1-20-01)

``It’s definitely go time now,’’ Gordon added, ``but at the same time I just need to be patient and mindful.’’

``Pop always wants you to slow down and learn a lot of things and that’s was so great for me because I learned a lot. But now I think it’s time to release the animal inside of me.’’

``Pop gives very few compliments as everyone knows, but he has a great sense of humor and he cares about you dearly,’’ said Simmons, whose nickname of ``Dog’’ was given to him by the five-time champion coach of the Spurs. ``Pop once told me (during a Spurs’ game), `If you turn the ball over again I’m taking $100,000 off what I’m trying to pay you at the end of the season.’’’

Hopefully he shoots like this instead...

Going to be a challenging game.

The Spurs have been very good defensively so far this year (96.0 DRTG) and they have played this year extremely slow (97.5 pace).

If the Magic allow the Spurs to dictate the tempo and play a slow game, it could be a sloggy 98-92 type game. That definitely does not suit Orlando's style right now.

This is a game I wish Payton was back for. Gotta have good ball movement or the Spurs will punish us.

No Parker, no Leonard on one side, no Payton on other. I'm interested to see how we will defend Aldrige. In preseason he was eating us alive.

Yep, still scary though. Best coached team in the league. We do the same mistakes against Nets with San Antonio and we lose by 10-15 IMO.

Just gotta continue playing our game.

they also play slow ( 27# in pace ) , unlike all other Magic opponents so far.

Rudy Gay 15 ppg on 64% TS as a prime example how important it is to have good system

A Magic game might be the only thing that can stop my binging of Stranger Things tomorrow.

It's just crazy because if you just looked at their roster on paper (without Leonard and Parker) you would think they'd be a lottery to 7-8th seed at best. But because they play in that system they're a top 3 seed in the west. Amazing what pop does for that team every year.

Hard for me to see us winning this game if we play like we did the other night. Ball movement and defense has to be better or Aldridge and that offense will shred us. The key to us winning against this team will be getting up and running on the break at any chance we get. A fast pace offense will be our best defense against this team. They have an older roster and won't want to run with us all night. Interested to see what effort we come out and play with.
