Not Eric Bledsoe. Any see any point guards who can shoot that might be the on the trade block soon?

Would love a George Hill type for this team.

I don’t think George Hill could be traded until Dec or so but he would be a good addition. Veteran pg that could play defense and make the open 3. Even a shooting pg like Augustine is doing wonders for us offensively.

Yeah, it’s just that there is good Augustine and bad Augustine. We know the latter will be back soon. I’m fine with him as the backup. And Payton no longer fits into what we do here.

Doesn’t have to be George Hill specifically. Just that kind of player, who embraces the team concept and can make a three.

I haven’t given up on Payton yet. We have to give him a chance to see how well he can run the point for this kind of offense. I just hope his shooting improved this offseason.

Why not wait and see what Payton does in the starting line-up?

We didn't expect Vucevic, Gordon, and Fournier to all significantly improve their games, so maybe Payton has as well?

He had like 5 triple-doubles after Ibaka left, lol. Trade Augustine for Payton.

I would love to see an Aaron Gordon type shooting improvement. If that happens, we are golden.

It’s not like everyone on the roster found the right shooting coach in the offseason...better ball movement-> better quality shots (for all) -> better shooting stats (for all)...give Payton a chance to thrive in this system too. He’s best in a fast-paced system.

George Hill has a massive contract.

I feel like the plan should be to free up cap, not just trade one big contract for another.

Also I'd like to see Elf in this offense. Mack can't shoot at all, and our spacing is not terrible when he is in.

The Problem last year with EP is that AG & Vooch couldn’t make a 3 so that left us with only two players in our starting lineup that could hit a 3.

I think EP will find a lot more opportunities now that he’ll be in a lineup with 4 players who can shoot the three ball.

Best answer, Steve Nash from many seasons ago. For today, CP3.

Smartest answer, get or draft a perfect-fitting young PG who doesn't command cap yet (2 examples: Ntilikina, Brogdon). Spend two seasons showing the league that ORL are elite contenders. Sign Kawhi in FA.

Ntilikina / Simmons
Fournier / Simmons
Kawhi / Isaac
Gordon / Isaac
Isaac / Vooch

You're welcome

Because I’ve seen Payton shoot open threes.

I’m not specifically meaning Hill. Just a player of that caliber.

Aaron Gordon’s shot is completely rebuilt. It’s a totally different stroke. Vucevic just expanded his range.

Because I’ve seen Payton shoot open threes.

Our starting lineup shot 40% from three (48% overall) and had ORTG of 112 with Payton post all-star break. That's before Gordon and Vuc put in work on their shot. Payton might not be able to shoot (yet), but he's good at pushing the ball, driving, finishing, rebounding and passing.... all very helpful in our new high pace system.

And I must ask, do you think Vucevic fits into what we are doing now? Because I'm pretty sure you said you'd trade him for nothing or just waive him over the summer........

If Miami decides to bottom out, maybe we can trade for Dragic.

An offer of Payton, top 5 protected 1st, our top 20 protected 1st to get the talks started

I see some pattern with guys like Rubio, Rondo, Payton, MCW even best among them like CP3. All ball dominant PGs, non of them is lights out shooter and despite being viewed as great playmakers, it looks like teams play better when they move away from them.

I guess some of it has to do with overall ball movment , instad of having one player pumping ball for 14-16 sec, you have better ball movment that opens driving lines and more open shots. Clippers, after moving from CP3 are actually better on defense despite him being one of best defensive PGs out there, their offense looks more balanced as well.
Suns are another example right now of same impact.
Rondo is maybe most notorious example of guy who would have 11 apg and in same time kill whole ball movment.

It may just be small sample size with corrupted data tho.
