What player would you trade for.

The wiretap has an article about how the wide open east may lead to more trades by east times at the deadline. Teams see the Cavs and Celtics as vulnerable and feel they have a chance at making the finals. Here is the article:

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/248016/Wide-Open-Eastern-Conference-Expected-To-Lead-To-More-Trade-Activity

With that said, pretend you are the GM of the Magic, it is near the trade deadline, and the Magic are still playing great. What trades, if any, would you make to improve the team’s chances of making it to the NBA finals.

BE REALISTIC!!!

No trades of Bismack Biyombo for Paul George.

For me, I would like to see if Orlando could upgrade the backup PG and C position.

I am thinking about possibly a deal like Mario Hezonja to the Nets for Spencer Dinwiddie.

I saw a trade suggestion on FanSided for Greg Monroe. The deal was Bismack and Hezonja of Monroe. But Maybe we could alter that to be

Biz, Mack, and a 2nd round pick for Monroe

What would you do?

Short term - we need a backup PG in case EP goes down again. Im looking at ish Smith from DET. Mario for Ish and a second.

Long term - No clue. Alot of questions need to be answered. Is EP really our pg of the future? Is Isaac our future 3?

Gotta find teams that aren't that good and could be looking to unload veterans.

Keep an eye on teams that are already pretty much out of it; the Hawks, Bulls, Nets, Mavericks, Kings, Suns.

Ok so no No trades of Bismack Biyombo for Paul George

For me the Magic profit from trading a first to unload Biyombo. Then in the coming FA market, a SnT could be made for Ross and Augustin-or-Mack for a 15 ppg SF.

Trade #1 "now": Greg Monroe for Biyombo and Orlando's 1st-protected to be below a 15 selection.
Trade #2 "later": Robert Covington as a SnT (at 15M a season for 4 years) for Ross.

2018/19 Orlando becomes:
Payton/Mack/vet-FA
Fournier/vet-FA/G-leaguer
Covington/Simmons/Iwundu
Gordon/Isaac/high-2nd-2018(e.g. Isaac Bonga)
Vučević/vet-FA/Birch

This is looking a lot like a 50 win team. It is the Detroit Piston's model.

Hawks - Ive been keeping an eye for Schroeder all season. He is putting up career numbers, only 24, and locked in a very good contract for his productivity. Some say he has a bit of a notorious attitude and would kill chemistry but Im not seeing it.

Kings - Although he is having a pretty bad start to the season, I think taking a gamble for two years on George Hill wouldn't be a bad idea. With the emergence of Fox, Hill is going to become available soon. His 3rd-year option is a team option.

Orlando needs a new SF so Fournier can shift to his natural SG. Ideas to trade Payton or Vučević are doing my head in. This is not the weak links for this team.

crazy idea for fun

Orl Out:Vuc,Elf,Mario,Mack or DJ
Atlanta out:Schroder,Plumlee

yeah Im in love with Schorder game :x
why we give up so much?
Atl has no incentive to really trade Dennis as he kinda fits their young core so We would take a very bad contract and sent them replacement in Payton and they basicly get Vuch for free ...can flip him to a 3rd team...also Mario is a sweetener and Mack or DJ throw ins.
We would upgrade pg (in my mind at least haha)but we would have most overpaid most scrubby center duo of all time lol...at least we would have to play Biyombo about 35 mins a game  and up his value

I do think Orlando might not make any trades and go with:

Payton/Fournier/Isaac/Gordon/Vučević

But that is not what this questioned.

The PG and the C positions are the ones that we could really afford to upgrade if the opportunity presents itself. Fournier, Isaac, and AG are set as our SG, SF, and PF of the future. EP is important bc he knows AGS game better than anyone else and can control the pace plus our offense looks so much better with him. I dont think we will do anything big this year but in the offseason, Im looking to trade or sign and trade for an all-star upgrade at the PG or C position. I think C is most likely. S&T for Cousins?

Why is everyone trying to change what has been working? Evan is having a career year at SF playing the Paul George role for Vogel. Compare their numbers - shot selection, usage, PPG, APG - and you can see the similarities of filling that role. He's always matched up better defensively to SFs and is proving that this year by having his best defensive effort yet. Same thing with AG and people saying he could move back to SF with his improved shot.

Our SF and PF positions are set. In my opinion, PG is too. If you look at the first few seasons/seasons up to 22 y/o for other top PGs today like Kyle Lowry, Goran Dragic, and Mike Conley.. Elf is actually ahead of the curve. I think we see a similar AG like break out from him now that he's back in the lineup. DJ Augustin has had a resurgence too now that he's not pressured to carry a bench unit starring Jeff Green and Jodie Meeks, so I'd say even the backup spot is solid for now.

Isaac has a couple of years before he's a starter but in the meantime he can fill in anywhere from SF to C. We'll let that 'problem' figure itself out as he grows.

If anything, we need Ross to either step up or be replaced by a 3-and-D guard in the SL (easier said than done). Simms should stay as a 6th man and lead the 2nd unit, and we need to get him some help to take off the pressure of caring the entire scoring load until Isaac develops his offensive game. Some guys to crash the boards in the 2nd unit wouldn't hurt either as we're currently in the bottom half of the league in most rebounding metrics.

More than anything, we need time and experience. Keep the continuity going by finally having a stable coaching staff and a set line up. Lets let these guys grow together and see what we have before making any more major moves.

Why does everyone want to trade for Schroeder? Him and Payton are like the same player except no attitude issues with Payton PGs that can attack rim and dish but have shooting issues. And please don’t give me he is averaging 20 ppg because he is taking 20 shots per game

A wing who can play-make to take Fournier out of the volume playmaking/scoring role and Ross out of the main defense role. Essentially a two way SF.

Maybe Frank can recruit Paul George to come if OKC continues to flounder.

how come they are same player?
Call me when Elfrid is going to start shooting around 40% from 3 and 92% from the line
and taking 18 shots a game at 48%FG isnt bad either and its not like his teammates are superstars to make him open for an easy score.Everybody knows he is the guy to shut down on his weak ass team and yet he gets his.

Yeah overall I dont think we gonna make any trades maybe some minor ones or ....if we will start sucking again theres chance but if we keep winning more.....why destroy it ...our gms wont make moves. If they didnt bite Bledsoe for peanuts then it means they are happy with current team and they wont make major moves.I dont even see them trading Biyombo+Mario and some 2nd rounder for Monroe or something like that even if it was on the table.Just so they would not mess chemistry.Maybe a financial standpoint would tempt them though.

I posted this on general board. I think if Portland were interested in parting with one of Dame or CJ, we would have to be interested. Fournier and pick, or Ross and multiple picks may work out for both teams. We'd finally get a true number 1 offensive option.

Roco would be an absolute dream, but reports indicate that he's resigning with Philly the second he's eligible.

Realistically I like the sit down and observe approach and still build for the future.

History shows that it's going to take a lot more than a protected pick to unload Biyombo (Mosgov deal).

I would offer Phoenix thefollowing..

Elfrid Payton
Bismack Biyombo
SRP (via Lakers)

For

Greg Monroe
Tyler Ulis

Then call Sacramento and try to lowball a deal to acquire disgruntled George Hill.

Remember Vogel turned George Hill into the player he was in Utah just a season ago.

I would offer the following to Sacramento

Terrence Ross
Shelvin Mack
Mario Hezonja
SRP (via Brooklyn)

For

George Hill
Marchi Richardson

Promote Isaac to the starting lineup (advanced stats support that move).

George Hill/DJ Augustine/Tyler Ulis
Evan Fournier/Aaron Affalo/Marchi Richardson
Jonathan Isaac/Jonathan Simmons
Aaron Gordon/Marquise Speights
Nikola Vucevic/Greg Monroe/Khem Birch

*have Iwundu play spot minutes at the 2/3

I think that team gives the top 3 EC teams a lot of trouble.
