Poll: What kind of trade and when ?

Post#1 » by drsd » Sun Dec 17, 2017 3:54 pm

The Magic is a third done wit the season and looks a lot like a 30-52 win team. I cannot see that as enough for GM Hammond to keep this current roster together.

So what kind of trades could there be and when would they occur?

There is:
"The tweek before the ASW". This makes sense if the Magic want to unlade a MLE-type for a soft asset. Think Augustin and Hezonja for and expiring and a 2nd. This ends the trades if the Magic will go at the FA market to find its new roster.

"The blockbuster before the ASW". This makes sense if the Magic is committed to the Tank. Think Gordon and Payton for two 1sts from a middling team (i.e. a Detroit-type). The goal here is to bank on picks well off to the future and to lose a bunch of games for a couple years.

and finally: "The blockbuster after the season is finished." Here anything is possible and this sort of trade is probable bundled in tot he draft itself. Really anything and all would be on the table here. This trade package can easily be bundled with the first.

We're 2 games off 4th worst record and 3 games off 2nd, that being said there is only 1 option blockbuster trade to grab a 1st rounder and player.

January is going to be an extremely tough game with maybe 2 "scheduled wins" and we all know it only will go downhill if we have another multi game L streak. The team already is on TILT and we don't even know how long AG is out for on top of Fournier and Isaac.
We should be tanking internally letting Isaac get some minutes only when 150% ready(minute restriction possibly) and let Fournier take his time as well as AG.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

There’s only one real answer to this. Blockbuster before ASW to blow up this embarrassment.

No need to wait after the season.

Gordon for DeAngelo Russell...they've got Lin coming back, we've got Isaac coming up. A real shot at a guy that can put up 20ppg from the PG spot...alternatively, could we get Lin (not for Gordon)?

Just trying to find a potentially elite lead guard somewhere. I like AG but sometimes you gotta..

The NY Knicks are over loaded with Centers. 23 year old Willie Hernangomez who at 1st was looked at as Center paired up with Kristaps Porzingas has been passed up by Enes Kanter and Kyle O'quinn and have Joakim Noah signed to a big contract.

C Willie Hernangomez for Sg/SF Mario Hezonja .....both need fresh starts

Don’t think Mario gets that done (especially since him and Porzingis are bffs) but that’s the type of idea I’d really like. Especially if/when we unload Vuc or Biz. Willy is signed to a pretty cheap deal too IIRC.

i'd do vuc, mario and payton for middleton and delly

bucks move dellys contract
middleton had some beat writers theorising he could be moved at some point ( i don't buy it realsitically though)

we look for a new PG after the season in the draft or FA market, middleton helps add a guy who can create for others to our wing ling up too which i think will help this team big.

This is a very interesting "Blockbuster" trade. The Nets could use Gordon to upgrade the forward depth. And D'Angelo Danté Russell could look good off the ball on Payton.

Payton/Russel/Fournier/Isaac/Vučević

Off season the Magic would need to either upgrade Fournier or ship Payton off for a sharp-shooter SG and slide Russel to the one. (I favor the first but many will favor the latter.

Gordon is a much better asset than Russell. Russell's scoring has come from very high usage rates. His efficiency has been shaky. He has some savvy, but he lacks tools and his shot-making is still in question. Gordon might be the better shooter at present. Russell isn't athletic, he will never be a good defender, and he just got his knee scoped.

I can see why he might be of interest to Orlando, but I'd never give up Gordon to get him.

Not trying to defend him, but Russel has played only only horrible teams. Efficiency numbers cannot be evaluated when a player is playing with G-league talent against NBA ballers.

Hezonja has essentially no asset value to Orlando so all trade ideas would be considered.

Hornets are quickly heading nowhere, someone pushes panic button there and we might endup with Kemba Walker on our team *somehow*.

Why blow it up before ASG is not an option?

Unfortunately, there is not much trading value behind AG and Simmons on this team and trading those (especially AG) would't make much sense imo.

Vooch and Fournier could be interesting to some capped out win now teams but my guess is that taking some bad salary in return would be needed to milk extra asset for them.

Vooch & Fournier for Jr. Smith, Frye (exp), Zizic, Shumpert (PO) & Nets pick is closest to the blockbuster I could imagine.

Vooch for Mahinmi + 2 1st from Washington or Aldrich, Bjelica & 1st from Minnesota?

Fournier for Ajinca, S. Hill & 1st from Pelicans?

Pretty much deals which would make trading partner instantly better and put Orlando for at least 2 seasons on tanking/developing course.

Even if Mario can restore some of his value, most possible suitors would rather wait his UFA than trading for him just to have their hands cuffed when they revive his career because his declined QO.

Maybe Mario for Singler + 1st or Ferguson could work for both sides...

I voted for the "tweek" because I think it would be hilarious for this team to trade for a tweeker! Now, if we were to make a tweak before the All-Star game, that would be nice.
