AG is my favorite player on the roster....
I like his performance but he only did put these numbers up on a stretch 5 playing out of position and a rookie.

Re: STOP MESSING AROUND: GIVE AG HIS MONEY
Gordon should get paid for his play and because we need a face to this franchise. We need someone people come to see and someone players want to play with. I don't think he's the number 1 option on a championship contender, I think he can be a vital piece and an allstar though. Lets start at 5/100 and lets see what he gets offered

Re: STOP MESSING AROUND: GIVE AG HIS MONEY
He's likely looking at a max deal no matter what, so we may as well spend the rest of the season treating him like one so we can see what he looks like as the #1 option.

Re: STOP MESSING AROUND: GIVE AG HIS MONEY
He's definitely getting the max but I'm skeptical if this helps the team long term. As it stands he'll be the first option on a losing team through the duration of his max contract. For me I dont believe he's a long term piece but a guy they'll use as trade bait throughout his contract. Then again if this team drafts a transcendent Center or transcendent/versatile forward his future with this team will most likely be solidified.
Good thing for him is he'll be the face of the franchise for the next few years.

Pretty much this.
Give him his money, but we aren’t winning anything with him as the first option on offense. Will be much better complimenting a true scorer.
Always better to keep assets.

This may end up being true, but I don't get why it took 5 years of arguing people here that Vuc wasn't first option material while 3 months into his 22 year old season, while posting three almost 40 point games (the latest being 39), people are saying he can't ever take us anywhere. Doesn't really make sense and it's not based on anything yet either since we've yet to even use him as a first option sort of guy until POSSIBLY now with Vucevic out.

Orlando can build a winner around Payton, Fournier (as a SG), Gordon (as a PF), and Vučević. There is a clear need for a SF on this team (or a trade of Fournier for a new SG and a new SF). But none of that established Isaac's long-term role.
To the focal topic of Gordon, he has established his game and is essentially going to give his stat-line he has this season for the next 6 years, or so. As such, he indeed will get mini-max money.

there is difference between scoring just to score and scoring that makes teammates better.
Gordon has been lighting it up shooting/scoring-wise but is still very much behind when it comes to having that impact where teams focus their attention on him. He's still a very basic scorer though he is an effective/efficient one (which has been dazzling considering that he had virtually no jumpshot) and still has a ways to go when it comes to becoming a star player. The man works hard and has proven me wrong with his jumper so there is a possibility he might be able to do it.
He has to really improve his dribbling/scoring versatility in order for me to think differently.
Vucevic though I like him never had the ability to be the first option. I think you're generalizing statements of people who have talked about him being the most complete offensive player we have (which he still is). You can't really run an offense through Gordon as his first instinct is to score as his lack of dribbling and triple threat ability hurts the overall offense and his own. He's a finisher/catch-shoot guy in the current incarnation. When you see the offense run through Vuc he possesses the tools offensively. As he's able to create from the top of the arc, has a plethora of post moves, and has the vision to pass it to the open man from either area in the court. He essentially has it all offensively its just that he's not particularly elite with any of those abilities he has.

Correct. Although i think we need to keep him. He isn’t a natural scorer he’s an opportunistic scorer who’s best playing off of guys that can draw in defenses. That’s pretty evident.

Re: STOP MESSING AROUND: GIVE AG HIS MONEY
If this team can find a way to draft Young and keep Gordon, I can get excited. Gordon is good, but he's clearly not a #1 option.

Re: STOP MESSING AROUND: GIVE AG HIS MONEY
No, I don't want AG to get in the way of Evan and Vuc's development. They deserve to be the top options on the team and AG is too young to handle the role. A 22 year old putting up 19 ppg, 8 rpg, 2 apg, and shooting 41% from 3 is not worth the money. Let's trade him for a late lottery pick this year in a top-heavy draft.

Re: STOP MESSING AROUND: GIVE AG HIS MONEY
Obviously Aaron Gordon is going to get a major raise this summer. I’m all for extending him, he’s earned it, I’m not in favor of extending Payton. Gordon isn’t a number 1 piece, he’s been great but he’s a number 2. I still feel Vuc, Fournier and Payton need to go, with the first 2 being able to yield a difference maker for the team.

Re: STOP MESSING AROUND: GIVE AG HIS MONEY
i disagree with those that say AG can't be a #1 option. This guy came into the league with NO jumper and look at him now. He has worked his butt off and is proving a lot of people wrong, including myself. I never would have thought AG would be shooting 41% from three let alone putting up 19ppg in his prime. The guy is doing it at 22 years old and has slowly become the 2nd or 3rd best player from the 2014 draft. If he keeps up his hard work on the off season, he can be a truly special player.
