The Detroit Pistons have pursued a trade for Evan Fournier this season. The Pistons would have struggled to find a workable trade without including the contract of Reggie Jackson.

Jackson is out for an extended period with a severely sprained ankle.

Luke Kennard could also be included in the package for Fournier. Fournier agreed upon a five-year, $85 million contract with the Orlando Magic in 2016.

Stan Van Gundy has been aggressive on the trade market.

Reggie Jackson is great when he’s healthy (which doesn’t seem to last). It all would depend on if management sees Payton as the future or if they plan to draft a pg with our likely high lottery pick.

What is Luke Kennards upside? Evan Fournier type stats and impact? he isnt a good defender, slower than Evan, smaller than Evan.
so we are just resetting a clock to hope this player gets as good as even, while eating Reggie's contract?

I support Evan as a player, but if a trade was out there to make the team better, i would be all for it. This doesnt seem to do it to me

Can get more/better for EF.. Jackson's contract is just as bad as EF's and Jackson is an injury plagued player. Kennard is +/- for me and wouldn't move the meter much.

Would rather try to move EF for a pick in this years draft + player...

I'm confused about the definition of "great". Reggie Jackson has a lower TS% than EP both this year and last, has a lower PER both this year and last, continues to have a negative plus/minus (relative to EP's +9), has a Value over replacement at an average of .3 over the last two years (contrast that with EP at 1.2), lower assist shares and rebound percentages relative to EP over the last 2 years as well. In short, he trails EP in just about every advanced stat category both this year and last despite being surrounded by better talent PLUS he is rumored to have more than a little bit of an attitude problem. Please add to that the fact he has missed 30 games last year and is on pace to miss a ton this year as well. He also has 2 more years at about 17.5M on his contract after this one.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest he is not actually all that great. And I would hate this move. Don't want that dude on our squad.

Bad deal for us. Jackson is average at best and he's starting to look like damaged goods... we'll regret his contract imo. Kennard isn't worth giving up Fournier. It's easy to find 3pt shooters... it's not easy to find 3pt shooters who can also drive and finish. Find a better deal or sit on Fournier until there is a better deal. We need upgrades, not downgrades.

No more mistakes on trades, need to cash in big if we're gonna make a trade. We don't need to lose or tie the other team in value every time. It's time to start being the clear cut winners of trades.

so an expiring Bradley and overpaid/under producing PF Leuer for expiring Hezonja and at worst, overpaid but producing Fournier?

sounds like a bad trade to me

I'd be really worried about Reggie's knees. I'm not interested in trading for him.

If the Magic is to blow up the team, Fournier for Jackson and Kennard gets the job done. Orlando all the sudden needs to trade Payton and draft the PG of the future, whom Jackson could guide over 203 years year of tutelage.

Next year the Magic could start as:

Simmons
Gordon/Isaac
Vučević/Biyombo/Birch

Add Trae Young and a couple NBA vets, the Magic is not horrible and there is growth to be found for the 2019/20 season.

interestingly, Evan this year and JJ at his 6th year, Evan is equal across the board to JJ, except that JJ had him 42% to 40% in 3's.

They'd have to include Stanley Johnson and exclude Jackson to get me interested. Even then, I feel like we should be able to get better value for EF than that.

If SVG got that deal through, then he'd be damn shrewd. He's the kind of coach who could put Fournier in a position to shine, and if he'd managed to do that with Harris and then Fournier, well the lols would be on us.

Not a terrible trade offer, but I can not get excited about Kennard at SG considering the dismal perimeter d we have seen the last few years, definitely not with the addition of the Reggie Jackson contract.

I have been all for the trade Fournier thesis and I am still an advocate, but with Voch out, and AG surging, I have definitely recently noticed an acceptance by Fournier of Gordons growing role. If we can lose and keep Fournier, which could be a delicate balancing act, I do think we would be happy we had him next year and beyond.

I would like to see more Gordon / Fournier play sets in the interim so we can have a closer look at any chemistry between these two players. The team has not had adequate time since AG's ascent for players to settle into new roles and test chemistry.

I do think Fournier is a solid 4th guy on a good team and he is only 25. His average defense is the only thing that concerns me.

If thier including their 1st rounder Id consider this. Your not gonna get good value cause of his contract. Most players making what Evan makes are either gonna be guys teams don't wanna trade or bad contracts. So if we take a bad contract and we get a propect like Kenard and a 1st rounder then thats a decent deal
