WASHINGTON — Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat said today he doesn’t expect his NBA career to continue after his current contract expires following the 2018-19 season, and he added he would love to end his career with the Orlando Magic.

“I would love to join the team for maybe two or three months, or maybe half a season at least,” Gortat told the Orlando Sentinel after the Wizards completed their shootaround Friday at Capital One Arena.


“I’m going to be a old guy, so I don’t know if Orlando would be interested or not. But I would love to join the team back again just to wear the uniform, put the white and blue stripes again on me and be able to say I’m a Magic again and just come back home where I belong. That would definitely be a dream come true to do that for me. Whatever the team wants to do — play me, just be in the rotation or just be a bench player — I would definitely be there for the team.”

At least someone out there still loves us. This would be awesome. Gortat was my favorite player when he was here.

I hate hearing that as a Wiz fan. I was hoping he'd resign to Vet Min after his contract expires. He has been remarkably consistent and healthy for us. With the way he sets picks and frees shooters and runs the PnR, he could easily play 10-15 MPG well into his late 30's.

Gortat, our 1st (#22) and Smith for Vuc and filler (Iwundu)?
Im not thrilled about the trade, but it gets us a Center that can spread the floor a bit and gets us under Lux tax.

Thanks, but ZERO interest in trading Oubre. Vuc is certainly a better player at this point than Gortat, but that difference over the next 1.5 years isnt worth Oubre, let alone our pick too.

Wiz were rumored last year to want to move one of Otto/Oubre, then they resigned Otto. You'd be getting Hezonja too(yes a FA, but you could sign him). I figured Wiz would take him over Iwundu, who you put in as your fill in.

been preaching for a 2nd year now about trading VUC for Mahinmi and Oubre
but if Gortat wants to come here we would have to modyfy the trade a bit but still my main goal would be geting Oubre somehow...

Again, no interest in trading Oubre. That said, we add even more in salary and for what? Ross was bad last year for you'll and was bad this year before he got injured.
