khem's pre-season performance was already off the charts by the way. his defensive rating was best in the team. I think both vogel and weham already knew that he was capable of this. that's why they signed him to a 2 year contract.

but I always felt like in their mind this was not khem's year. to get khem in the rotation, you need to go DNP CD for either vuc or biz. and I assumed this will not be the case if you want to trade them. especially I think no one would trade for 17 million dollar guy that doesn't play at all.

after some trades, into the next season. you can be sure he will be in the rotation though. he is a one damn good find.

Vogel is incredible... he said that the team finally got his message about rebounding... without him mentioning how he held back the bench player that got him 10rebs and 4blks in 19 minutes. Gee... A physical/athletic center that plays close to the basket is a better rebounder than a center that plays 25 feet away from the basket instead? REEAAALLYYY? No.... that can't be.

Towns got 12 rebounds. There was nothing inspiring about Biyombo's play.

That was an awesome game but the level of incompetence of our coaching staff is unbelievable. Anyone with a good set of eyes could see that Speights was a chucker that killed our defense and was only playable when he hit his fluke 3s. Funny that Mario and Birch only got a chance because there weren't any more able bodies out there and they've been better than some of our starters.

Birch and Biyombo combining for 26 rebounds and 9 blocks was huge and should really make some people think.

Augustin thoroughly outplaying Payton was also quite interesting.

Orlando out rebounded the Wolves by 14 boards! But it was Birch not Biyombo you should be praising in that Minny's bench was awful on the glass (5 total rebounds to 19 Magic-bench rebounds).

Indeed bench rebounding was why Orlando won this game !!!!!

Birch looked really good, but more in a weak-side way (could complement Vuc). Biz OWNED the paint. DJ showed really great poise and patience with the ball in the paint. Fun game from the 4th row- haven’t felt that energy in a while

Well Vogel needs to pull him if his shot isn't falling since that is literally the only reason he is out there.

Not to discredit Biz, but Birch should be our starter or heavy minute backup from now on. Fournier increasing that trade value and solid game for DJ.

I think tonite solidified that our starting PG is the weakest position and one that we will be looking to upgrade on #1 priority. This team looks better with DJs spacing and 3pt shooting ability despite him not playing a squat of defense. That is bad news for Payton. He is on his last playing games in Orlando.

Happy Birch got a chance and killed it. Hopefully, Vogel doesnt go full (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and realizes how well he played and that he should be getting minutes over Speights.

No, it didn't but you and I both know that some of these people will go out of their way to pile on Payton. He didn't even have a bad game and was subbed out right after he had made a few plays to keep the team in the game plus he didn't even play in the fourth quarter. In another thread someone said that Vogel was about to sub him back in in the fourth but he said he wanted Augustin to finish the game because he was playing really well. That's good leadership and it's what anyone would do that puts winning above personal glory.

I meant Birch played defense like Bo Outlaw, good but not physically dominant, good switching, solid help...Biz straight up chest to chest blocked shots. Both good in that game, but different looks.
