Jonathan Isaac?

Post#1 » by three3d » Thu Feb 1, 2018 5:32 am

I’ve been creeping for a while but haven’t poste. I’m just a regular normal frustrated magic fan here but I’m wondering what the hell is going on with Isaaac? Kinda annoying Kevin Love just got hurt last night and we already pretty much have a time line for him to be back. :banghead:

Apparently his injury is almost as bad as Gordon Hayward’s.

I’ve been a fan for so long like most of you and I’m so sick and tired of all this. We can’t seem to turn it around no matter what. This is such a deep draft we can’t mess this one up. Orlando seems to turn things around when we draft a big man, the nba has changed you no longer need a great big. I’m hoping we take Trae.

They didn't let his ankle heal the first time, so they started the clock over.... probably looking at after the all star break.

Odds to hurt your ankle again are 30-60% until your leg isn't 100%.

They rushed him and now he is out for months.

Wasnt there a tweet recently explaining his status? Like they want him to get stronger first before putting him on the court again.

Part of it is on Isaac . He told medical stuff he is fine . Even when he re-injuried himself he told after a game that he is fine.

At the New Year he indeed was stated to come back "no sooner than 6 weeks", which is the ASW. Frankly I think the Main is better suited to locking him down until at least March. He has asthma and need to get his conditioning to a very high level before he should ever be allowed on the court.

For me I would think something like mid-March to get some late season games in to focus on the coming season.

I would shut him down for the season like Simmons, Embiid etc were, rehab properly, and get him on a 6 month S and C programme. That is what's best in the long run, yes he needs to play, but lets develop him physically rather than give him empty minutes on this terrible team

What's the point of getting him back 3 weeks before end of a season ?

I'm expecting him to come back late season. Remember when Paulo George suffered that gruesome injury, he made a come back towards the latter part of the season, even if there season was over, just to make sure he gets that confidence back and all, I think that would be the right approach for Isaac. I think to get that time will play a huge part in his development as player especially since this will already be his 2nd offseason.

There is something to playing in games that is more than gym practice and strength training.

For one, management is still trying to catalog their assets. Isaac's play for ~10 games could be helpful for the evaluation phase of what position he is likely to play in 2018/19: be it SF or PF.

Of course there is but he needs to physically develop. A number of teams have done it with great success, he would benefit from it greatly in the long run

And, we will both agree, stay healthy for the rest of this season!

I really don’t think this is about the injury he has today.

I 100% believe they are being extra cautious, giving him a redshirt year and asking him to focus on his fitness. He needs to bulk up in a way that simultaneously helps him avoid future injury and realize all of his basketball talent. Sometimes it is best to allow a young person (in any field) to focus in on a single aspect of their craft. Given he had one injury which was quickly reagrivated in the middle of a tank season... what sense does it make to bring him back? Let him get healthy and add size before next year.

I agree, he'll comeback much stronger. I hope next season we tank with him, Goron, Hezonja, and this years pick playing big minutes, then we will be ready

Lot of elite guys missed whole rookie seasons, not big deal. I'm not sure i want him half ready 3 weeks before the end, playing against teams that will fight for playoffs and be extra stiff, or teams that are going nowhere, playing with D league guys who will also be- extra stiff to get another NBA contract.

Last thing we need is him getting another injury and spending whole summer recovering.

Has he played enough to show that AG could be expendable??? or they can play well together??

I think that with all these young players coming into the league , and the recent success of players like Simmons and embiid, or even Blake griffin , we will see more "red shirt" type seasons for some of these really young guys , especially if they have any type of injuries , teams may be quicker to shut these players down for the season .
