Poll: Orlando's starting five after the ASW
..
Assuming Isaac, Gordon, and Vučević are all available after the all-star week, what starting five do you imagine on 23rd Feb.
1) Augustin, Simmons, Fournier, Hezonja, Biyombo
Coach Vogel will bring the three players back slowly off of the bench, and use the G-league.
2) Augustin, Simmons, Fournier, Gordon, Vučević
Orlando goes back to its natural line-up.
3) Augustin, Fournier, Gordon, Hezonja, Vučević
Coach Vogel has to keep Hezonja in the starting five at PF, and Fournier slides to his natural slot.
4) Augustin, Fournier, Isaac, Gordon, Vučević
Hezonja is gone anyway and the Magic should get Isaac starter minutes for evaluation (i.e. improve the tank)

Augustin/Afflalo/Fournier/Speights/Vuc
Vogel is gonna finish this season out the right way.

Re: Poll: Orlando's starting five after the ASW
No chance of Gordon coming off the bench.
Vogel doesn't have the balls to bench Simmons right away.
Vuc will probably come off the bench for a week or so since he's missed so much time.
Vogel already hinted that Hezonja will play backup PF when Gordon gets back and backup SF when Isaac gets back, so we're probably looking at a lineup of DJ/Simms/Fournier/Gordon/Biz for a handful of games.
By March I would prefer to see the last two units, which have yet to play together. Either start Hezonja at SF to see if he can still play well there and use that to sell him on staying... or give up on hezonja since he's likely leaving and just pair Isaac with Gordon for the rest of the season to build chemistry. By April we should shut down some players and tank the final games.

Re: Poll: Orlando's starting five after the ASW
obviously the second one
vs what propably most fans would want to see and will never happen
DJ (sigh)
Hezogod
Isaac
AG
Birch
or even try Hezo at pg so Evan woudnt cry that he is out of the sl
even though it would be a disaster ...but a disaster is what we need to end up as top3 worst team

It's definitely going to be Augustin, Simmons, Fournier, Gordon, Vucevic.

Re: Poll: Orlando's starting five after the ASW
I really want hezonja, simmons, fournier, gordon, biyombo.
that is the best "tanking without really tanking" line-up that we could have right now. c'mon WH, it's not that hard.
- simmons is our best chance at stealth tanking, only bad player vogel can't do without. I want him to play 30 minutes.
- the last time we played without a real point guard was the greatest losing stretch that we had. imagine doing that, and keeping hezonja in th SL.
- the gordon biyombo frontcourt was one of the best ways to neutralize gordon. we can claim vuc needs to get his legs under him for a while.

Poll: Orlando's starting five after the ASW
Easy.. The best players on the roster. DJ, Fournier, Mario, AG, Vuc... back ups are Mack, Afflalo, Iwundu, Isaac, and Birch.
We’re not committed to getting the best player we can in the draft obviously so might as well try and build a winning culture. Hopefully the 10th pick in the draft will pan out, but it’ll likely be a long armed player that lacks basic fundamentals which people love “cuz potential” 5 years down the road.
EDIT: Forgot about Simmons. Pffftt lmao...

Re: Poll: Orlando's starting five after the ASW
This is what i think they will do
This is what i hope they do do....Augustin, Fournier, Gordon, Hezonja, Vučević
No. 1 priority for me right now... is make hezonja happy here. Most people might say that he's already "gone"... or it'll showcase too much.
To be honest with you I do believe that they asked for them not to pick up his option in fear that he will spend the rest of the season in the same fashion as he did last year and the beginning of this year. NOW.... he will have an opportunity to be resigned to what he would have been paid for the next two years and stay in the place that he has come to love. Then he can go on to the next big contract. As we all know this is a business and you have to deal with these situations accordingly. you have to keep a good relationship with players and agents and this would have been an obvious step in the right direction for them. Hezonja is on the cusp of having a true breakout season. let him drop that extra weight and shimmy over to being an oversized SG of the future.
Simmons to me is best served coming off the bench and playing 6th man minutes at the 2.... and screw it... even the 1. And then Isaac to me should eat up all other minutes at the 3,4 and even experiment at the 5 at times. If we are going to stick to the Evaluation Period.... this would be the best way to fill out the rest of the season.
once the season is over with.... and we have drafted our newest magicman... fournier and vuc (though i love them) could be moved for filling a position of need.

Augustin and Vucevic are really going to be our starters.....
I mean I knew this was going to be our starting line-up this whole time, but just seeing it in writing really depressed me
Don't count us out the Tankathon yet

Just read Isaac and Gordon have combined for 53 minutes total game time.
So much for evaluations of their co-existance potential.

Soooooo many injuries. I would like to see this data in better context with respect to number of games they both actually played. By my quick glance, it appears to be 10.
That number would be low even for 5 games but still...

Injuries have been a huge issue, no doubt... but as you allude, the bigger issue is coaching.
Isaac: 19 mpg
Other lotto picks:
Ball: 34 mpg
Tatum: 31 mpg
Jackson: 24 mpg
Fox: 27 mpg
Markkanen: 30 mpg
Smith Jr: 29mpg
Let me also point this out:
Magic Elf: 28 mpg
Suns Elf: 35 mpg

Oh, I don’t care about Isaac playing less minutes per game one bit.
I’m simply pointing out the stat about his overlapping minutes AG is misleading.

Well, it's still a coaching issue. If you play a bench player for a few minutes, he's not going to play too much with a starter... especially with Vogel's love for subbing out all starters at nearly the same time.
