Who will be our next starting shooting guard?

Post#1 » by drsd » Sat Mar 3, 2018 7:18 pm

This was a very effective question, so I will change small words word from the PG thread to reflect on Orlando's grandest need: a competent starting SG.

Lets say we miss on Dončić. Are we taking another good 3point shooting sg in Mikal Bridges?
Fa SG market is rather thin ...a trade? Who do you have as a realistic fa or trade target beside obvious drafting of Dončić? Is there a backup plan if we miss on Dončić?

Yup. There just aren’t options for replacing him. Doncic would play next to Evan if we got him.

Vuc’s seat is very hot. That is the far more interesting question

1 - I know he was drafted as a SG, but been moved from SG to SF to PF to.....? Can he be a full time NBA SG?
2 - Can we get him to re-sign?

If the answer to both those is Yes, then i co-sign this right now! Hell, can we start him at SG starting today and see how he does with Gordon\isaac as those are the only 2 starters who are a near lock to be back next year (i still think vuc will be back but its not a lock to me)

Vučević is gone this offseason. I just hope we get JJJr to replace him and not try forcing Isaac to bang in the post.

As for SG, Evan? I mean, is there a doubt about that? I don't see it, dude can do a pretty good job offensively, not so much on D unfortunately.

Hell, you know what? If we're stubborn on changing Isaac's position I'd rather have him spend a year on SG than C. Gotta keep that kid in one piece.

Jonathan Isaac because positions don’t matter anymore apparently and “you are what you guard”.

Length ftw guyz

Also here my super siiiick lineup I made up in my head

Mario
Isaac
AG (he’s going to prove you all wrong at sf I promise)
JJJ
Biyombo

6th man- Vuc

I’m unbeatable on 2k with this lineup trust me...

Just kidding.. probably Fournier for his 5th losing season here tbh

KCP. I think we trade Fournier+Vuc for Drummond this off season and sign KCP to MLE.

If the Magic draft Young and resign Hezonja, the team you constructed would be:
Augustin/Young/Mack
Caldwell-Pope/Ross/Iwundu
Isaac/Simmons
Gordon/Hezonja
Drummond/Biyombo/Birch

There is balance and room for growth.

He may be already on the roster. Evan very likely could be it or maybe even Mario if we can get him for less money which is looking like he could be had for cheaper then people would have thought. As I said in that other thread about PG, I don't feel the pressure to fill all our needs just this offseason. We will need more draft picks to do that and we don't currently have another lottery pick and I don't think we are going to get one via trade with our limited(actually available) players who don't have the value to get us another one right now, but could maybe next year as we are probably in line for another lottery pick in 2019. If we take Doncic which we have a decent shot at if we like him over most of the other prospects but even he may not be the starter right away. We shall see.

It isn't impossible. We are still one of the feww worst teams in the league. Plus even if we fall a little bit there is the lottery where we would have a good chance at picking in the top three. Plus I think Donci could still be available at 4 5 or even six. There are other players just as good at the top of this draft who could go ahead of Doncic.

yeah i don't think Detroit would give up Drummond for those two even with a year removed from their deals. And we don't have the cap space to sign KCP.
