Leaders?
I've been monitoring the Magic for about 4 years now.
Maybe I've missed it, who are the leaders on this team?
There is potential and talent, but no one has the thing that creates a unit.
How can they pay any of these guys next contract money and they haven't shown cornerstone intangible ability?
This is the least teamy team I've ever seen. They have no "we".
As a basketball fan, this organization is confounding.

Re: Leaders?
There are no leaders and that starts with the team CEO... grease-ball politician (that did keep the team in Orlando) Alex Martins.

Totally agree. Our "potential all star" was a whopping 4/15 from the field. And we're supposed to pay this guy big bucks to lead our team next year? Give me a break.

Vuc time is coming to an end, either via trade or just expiring. Meanwhile, we could be stuck paying Gordon max money, for next 4 years, leading us to more lottery seasons.

he was talking bout AG but i get ur point lol.
as for the topic ive to say, its just not about our players, as you can see how oladipo strides in the pacers (he is the leader on that team from the moment he signed) he even said that it was rough to play with this group and organization as they didnt even try to win bball games. we have and had talented players that after they left orlando inmediatly began to play much better. whats happening in the magic ive not a certain idea. but everything must change and push the reboot button, i dont care if we end up loosing the trades, we need to restart from the bottom and change not just the looser culture (even tho its difficult and wont happen in a blink) but having an identity, leaders, willignes to play for the organization, ex ex ex. coughsamhinkiecough

Why deviate from his point?
People already know Vucevic isn't the guy for the team (As nobody on this team is clearly a 1st, 2nd, or even a 3rd option on a contending team) But at least he's on a contract that won't hamstring the team in future FA pursuits and being a somewhat trade-able asset.
Gordon on a max contract given the way he's played the last several months for the next 4 years would/could be a catastrophe. You have to think about that possibility heading into his free-agency and long term.
Back on topic... Leadership is moot in this situation... Revolving door of players/coaching/management and constant losing leaves no one to look toward anyone for leadership.

AG as a player right now isn't worth max, but he could be a player that can play himself to near max at his ceiling, I feel like. Maybe not. But you also valued him as even value for Rodney Hood.. so there is wildly different values depending on who likes him or not. He's also only 22 and we can't afford to lose Harris, Payton, Oladipo, Mario and Gordon for almost nothing in return or we'll be even more of a laughing stock.

This team has already bottomed out and will continue to bottom out for several more seasons regardless during Gordon's potential max years, so this notion of resigning Gordon because the Magic will be "more of a joke" is in itself a joke... Losing Gordon doesn't mean much especially when you have Issac (and the upcoming draft pick) who are more than capable of replacing him on a team that isn't going anywhere fast.
I'd much rather sign vets and players who would are more defined and add onto a team and help the growth of the newer crop of young players rather than hold onto a guy on a bloated contract for several more seasons who doesn't know or play to his own capabilities and has presumably a long way to go on his own development. This is after 4 years of trying to develop him where he's still mediocre to below average in most stats across the board.
Its really a hard sell for me.

Re: Leaders?
I'm against losing Gordon for nothing. But to act that things would be that much worst without him simply isn't true. We are awful with him as well.
I'm still against his max contract because i don't see player worth of that money in him, i see him as guy who has potential to be better version of Rudy Gay due simple fact that he plays offense with such low IQ and simply doesn't understand what he is as player and what his strenghts are.
If you find yourself always open in mid range shots maybe, just maybe you are open because you shoot below 40% from that range? ( below 30% in shots between 3 and 10 feet )
Lot of job to be done by Magic GMs to make something from this roster because this is simply unwatchable. We are going in 7th season in a row without hope for better playoff spot, or playoffs in general.

Re: Leaders?
The best leader for the Magic is not some 19 year old we haven't met yet...it's someone like Kemba or CJ, if at all possible. Failing that, I'd even take a (reasonably priced, 3 years or less) IT...we have talent but it's like a nursery school. Leadership is absolutely what's missing and I don't feel like a coach or front office can completely provide that. I hope they draft well this summer and package next year's #1 and combos of Evan/Vuc/Simmons/Ross as needed to get a grown up in here to lead this team. Gordon and Isaac are potentially solid 2 and 3 guys...if they find a #1 to lead and demonstrate what it takes. Sick of hearing about Oladipo - he made it very clear that his growth had everything to do with being around Westbrook for a year and seeing what it means to work/compete at the highest level. That will never happen in Orlando when your veteran leaders are bad or mediocre competitors.

i wouldnt be opposed to getting IT at a reasonable or short deal. But lets not act like he is some leader. He has worn out his welcome at multiple spots.

While we are severely missing top talent, we are in desperately need of leadership and a concrete direction from management. The Miami franchise is able to hold their players accountable because Riley has his imprints on that team and we don't hold anyone accountable. In Orlando there seems to be no rhyme or purpose, just a rudderless ship drifting aimlessly.

Re: Leaders?
I would give Gordon 13-18 M a year. He is a good role player but nothing more to me. He is smart but plays very dumb and his words arent true to his actions, he is not a leader. Fournier has character of a secondary leader, rallying team in tough moments, same Simmons. Vucevic is skilled as anyone on the roster but he has very little charisma and competetiveness in him. We need someone who will push others everyday and show them how to do it in games. Kemba, CJ, IT could do it i think. From draft i see Young and Doncic as such players. Teodosic could be of some use to.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Except instead of 'PLAYOFFS' it says 'LEADERS'
This team ain't got none. Gordon's got a shot; Oladipo could've been.

Re: Leaders?
No Leader because when someone even thinks of stepping up the clique decides to shun them. Starts up top with Martins and then starts in locker room with Softevic wanting the offense to run through him and throwing a pissy fit when being asked to come off the bench.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

It's been working so far, so why stop now?
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.
- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Officially I do not believe this team has a current captain. Hmm.
