Worst Magician of all time

Good evening everyone,

Hope you're all good,

Who is the worst Magic player of all time for you personally. Personally Serge Ibaka (who inspired this thread for obvious reasons) is mine. Came here summer 2016 and was just not interested, didn't look like he cared or the player he was in OKC, I don't hate him or even dislike him like some might Dwight, Shaq, etc. I just think he was a terrible player for the Magic when you compare what he did before and what he's done since. Who is yours and why?

If by "worst" you mean literal worst, that might be hard to identify. Lots of scrubby players with a very small number of minutes. I don't know who the answer is, but it's not Andrew Declercq, btw. "Least favorite" is a lot easier.

My least favorite:

1. Glen Davis. Jacque Vaughn was starting this guy as our #1 option until Rob Hennigan, in one of his only undisputed moments of genius, paid him to go away. He was then marginalized elsewhere and was quickly out of the league. Do you think Vaughn looks at that and says to himself, "I guess I really had it wrong about him huh?" Nah, probably not.

2. Jeff Green. Never surpassed a jog while he was here. Collected his bizarrely large paycheck. He now makes the minimum salary this year and suddenly plays better. What a coincidence.

3. Chris Duhon. Among rotation players who played a significant number of games for the Magic, he would surely rank among the least effective of all time. He was a constant risk of an 8 second violation because he flat out couldn't even dribble the ball in a forward motion against the average NBA guard, let alone turn the corner on a pick and roll.

Out of players that got significant playing time I say in no order: Greg Kite, Jeff Turner, Chris Duhon, Big Baby, Steven Hunter, Reece Gaines, Jerryl Sasser, Juwan Howard, Drew Gooden, Tyronn Lue, Anthony Avent.

The worst thing about Ibaka was just how obviously transparent it was for him that he didn’t care to be in Orlando.

The dude put up a career game against OKC and phoned it in until he was traded. Couldn’t be more obvious.

You have to factor in salary. There are plenty of draft picks and lower-tiered guys who have been bad but didn't put a dent in our salary cap (Daniel Orton was a steaming pile of **** though).

I actually don't have a post-Dwight era pick. Ibaka and Jeff Green are tempting though.

Stats don't necessarily factor in to my thought process.

I think my pick is Isaac Austin. Penny vouched hard for that guy and Austin just infuriated me.

Juwan Howard, Doug Christie, and Ron Mercer are up there. Duhon was actually worthless.

I bet Doug Christie still carries around that baggie with those bone spurs in it.

Duhon... he got paid and then immediately mailed it in because his days as a starter were over - and that was while we were really good.

If you read these forums, the answer would be all of the current roster plus elf.

Chris duhon was really bad.

But Bizmack and his 17 mil albatross is worse. Especially since we could have signed Oladipo for same money. This move singlehandedly set back our rebuild 2-3 years.

Biz is looking like a very strong candidate to go with Duhon.

Gilbert Arenas comes to mind. Never liked him

Downfall of that 2010 team that once bulldozed to the ECF.

This one for me....especially, because (not to start a riot) on paper, at the time, he was exactly what we needed. If he played to his abilities and embraced the trade - we wouldn't all be ranting about "worst trade ever".

Worst Magician of all time

This is interesting as it asks us to evaluate what makes one "worst."

Is it an albatross contract that keeps the team from developing? (eg. Grant Hill, Bismack Biyombo, Gilbert Arenas)
Is it performing far below expectations coming to the league? (draft scrubs such as Sasser)
Or is it being actually bad, and thus having very little game time?

I will take the question literally, meaning the actually worst player.

My list of consideration: Jawann Oldham, Mark McNamara, Morlon Wiley, Stephen Thompson, Lorenzo Williams, Geert Hammink, Litterial Green, Donald Royal, Keith Tower, David Vaughn, Dell Demps, Miles Simon, Jonathan Kerner, Kiwane Garris, Jeryl Sasser, Ryan Humphrey, Britton Johnsen, Derrick Dial, Mark Jones, Jeremy Richardson, Justin Harper, Adonis Thomas, Devyn Marble, Keith Appling, Stephen Zimmerman, Patricio Garino.
(as an aside: I see two features to this Hall of Shame list. i) There are loads of bigs on it and ii) bad players correlated in years where the Magic was horrible.)

I am going to tab Patricio Garino. Not only did he miss every shot he ever took in the NBA: 5 games played with Orlando. He was also (accidentally) center to one of the greatestt Magic scandals of all time:

If it came down to value per dollar. Has to be Bizmark or Arenas.
