Playoffs 2017-18

Post#1 » by pepe1991 » Sat Apr 14, 2018 6:11 pm

since we are weeks away from lottery it's time to watch some high quality basketball.

Image

West:

Houston - Wolves

Rockets are favorites but with return of Jimmy Butler ( one of most underrated nba stars ) Wolves could push series pass 5 games. Maybe Wiggins decides to look like 1# overall pick.

GSW - Spurs

I don't see how Spurs can win more than a game without Leonard. I expect lot of fans to get even more upset about him now playing, being healthy since now spotlight will be on his team more than it was in regular season.

Blazers- Pelicans
Interesting matchup. On paper, and by position Blazers are favorites, but Pelicans have best player in the series.

OKC- Jazz

I'm calling an upset here. Jazz have elite defense and can get things done on offense. I expect Westbrook in full 30FGA mode.

East

Raptors- Wizards
Raptors should be angry. Wizards decided to go on them ( and F-ed us ). Maybe we see for first time Derozan and Lowry playing good in post season.

Celtics- Bucks
Another upset could happen here. Giannis is best player on a floor in this one, but Middelton is probably third. Celtics will use this as learning process for Brown and Tatum.

76ers- Heat
I'm not sure that Philly will have easy task. Coaching is good on both ends, Whiteside might play well to showcase himself to next team. Experience is on side of Heat, talent on side of Philly. I'm going with Philly in 6 games.

Cavs- Pacers
Lebron James.

Still interested what will Dipo do.

Anyway what are your predictions ,expetations?

OKC Vs Jazz and Celtics vs Bucks are not upset series, either team can win those series. The other 6 matchups it would be a upset if TImberwolves, Spurs, Pelicans, Wizards, HEat or Pacers advanced.

Now that we into the playoffs, NOBODY is tanking

Kind of boring matchups imo, but I like Philly/Miami and OKC/Utah. I guess injuries kinda hurt some of the interest for certain series.

The Bucks are completely disorganized as a team. They have the talent but always play down to lesser teams. Will they play up to better teams in the playoffs? We shall see. But I don’t consider this an upset risk.

I'm going crazy here, Rockets vs. 76ers in the Finals.

With Boston down and Cleveland being Cleveland while Toronto was never to be taken seriously I really think the 76ers have a chance.

I’m just not a believer in James Harden. Maybe it’s more that I want him to fail than I think he will and I can’t tell the difference anymore?

Harden and Paul did have some playoff meltdowns in past. Chris Paul menaged to lost that series vs OKC by turning the ball over like 3 times in last 1 min and half or something like that few years ago.
Harden faced complete beatdown vs Warriors in 2015,lost in first round in 2016 ( again Warriors), and last year against Spurs in second round.

What happened to Whiteside? Minutes cut all season and plays just 12 minutes in game 1.

He only had one good season in general, his contract year. But yea, nobody knows why he is being treated like this by Heat, he was really upset about it few weeks ago, now he plays even less

I never thought Spo liked Whiteside, not personally, but style of play, and I thought I remember reading about it back before the new contract that they just didn't like what Whiteside did to the rest of the team while he was on the court.

Philly, man, Simmons is legit going to be a generational superstar. Saric drops 20/6/3 on 66% from 3 meanwhile Payton just cut his hair in hopes that doing so would prove he is even worth a 2nd NBA contract. :(

Watching the 76ers thrash Miami was simultaneously awesome and depressing because:
A) They tanked and built their team correctly within the same time frame that we did not.
B) Their three former Magic-men who played extremely well (JJ, Saric, Ersan)
C) We traded Saric for Elfrid.... even if Saric wouldn't be as good in our system (or lack thereof) it still sucks to think of now
D) They've had their coach throughout the whole rebuild and he's intelligent.
E) It served as a reminder that we traded away the best draft pick of our rebuild.
F) I miss JJ.

hot take: Bucks are mess.
You can't lose to Celtics without Smart and two allstars. You simply can't.

Boston is also well coached. That’s what a good coach does, he get the most of his players.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a coach that had that capability.

Oladipo is going to be a really good player for a long time. This franchise is going to regret that trade for a while. Can’t help but laugh at this point
