OT: NFL draft thread

Post#1 » by MagicFan101 » Thu Apr 26, 2018 3:21 pm

It’s draft day people!!!!!

... but not the one we have been waiting for. :banghead: Still, we can have some good discussions.

This year is particularly interesting as we don’t know who the #1 pick will be. Darnold, Allen and even Baker Mayfield are all being pushed strongly by reputable sources.

Thought? Predictions? Hopes for your team?

Bucs fan here. If Saquon Barkley or Bradley Chubb are not there at 7, I'm hoping for Derwin James. The Bucs secondary is one of the worst in the league.

I feel like the Browns are going to Browns and take Baker over Darnold. Would be a monumental mistake imo. I think the best out of all of them is Rosen and whoever he slips to is going to get a steal.

I think the Bucs feel exactly as you do and will happily “settle” for James.

The Browns will take one of Barkley or Chubb at 4. I can seen a few teams being interested in the other. The only scenario I see one of them falling is if the Giants AND one of the Broncos or Colts trade down to QB needy teams. ... not so far fetched so it could be a fun night!

Why settle in quotes? James is a very good player and a better fit for the Bucs than Fitzpatrick.

... that’s why I use quotes. It’s not really settling.

While Barkley or Chubb are the dream targets, James is a DAMN good fallback.

I think the Johnny Manziel comps some are using are dumb and while I believe Baker is worth a first round pick, I agree with you that the Browns taking him #1 would be a huge mistake.

Take Darnold.

Baker at 1...if Chubb or Barkley is available at 4 or see if Bills want to trade 12+22 to grab a QB. 12 & 22 would then become Denzel Ward and Kolton Miller.

Best Case Scenario....

Spoiler:
from a person within Browns scouting department.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Browns are dummies if they don't take Barkley or Chubb #1 overall pick, Browns can still be happy with a QB at their 4th pick. There is no clear cut QB in this draft. All 4 to 5 are about on the same level. I would select Barkley #1 overall pick and than either Baker, Allen, Darnold or Rosen with the 4th overall pick.

Dumb idea.

Passing on QBs and settling for their 3rd or 4th option is why they are they Browns we know.

With the Jets guaranteed to take a QB at 3, they can get their top QB at #1 and are still guaranteed one of Barkley or Chubb!! lol

Why in the world would they settle for a QB they value less just to draft someone they are going to get at 4 anyways?

The Colts interest me. My guy says they should take the elite O-line talent. But they need SOOOOO much that it feels like another trade down my also be best.

I'm with your guy. The should take Nelson or McGlinchy. The haven't given enough love in past drafts and free agency. If they want to keep Luck, they must protect him. They have gone far too long not making their O line better.

What do you guys think of the Jags and Phins? What should they target tonight?

I’m hearing the Phins might look at a QB but could go many directions.

The Jags are pretty solid. They could go with a Mason Rudolph late in the 1st as a development piece behind the soon to be out the door Bortles. Or a WR could be useful.

Phins need to look at QB. They definitely need a new one

Jags should go OL or WR. They could still draft a development QB in the mid rounds.

I don’t think they have the draft capital to pull it off but I would love to see the Jags consolidate their resources into a trade up for one of the big-4 QBs.

People said Philly was crazy going up for Wentz but they knew they had a great defense and just needed that QB to finish it. The Jags have a better defense and a great running game. Get your QB at all costs!

Phins could take Tremaine Edmunds at 11 and that would be a heck of a pick. Dude is a beast and is only 19 years old. I think him and Roquan Smith are very much 1a/1b for Top LB this draft.

Very doubtful, they just resigned Bortles. I'm not saying he's the answer, but they won't do that. They need OL or a replacement for Allen Robinson as a deep threat.

Why definitely? Tannehill has improved to become a decent-to-good QB. Only reason to draft a QB is if Rosen falls and they don’t think Tannehill can bounce back from injury. Otherwise, they desperately need to draft a LB.

Jags are in a great spot. They can truly draft BPA. If there is anything they need though, probably an o lineman or WR
