The idea of not letting go of Gordon due to the fear of missing out on another Oladipo doesnt make sense. Its a big risk to MAX him.

To me, the only way we should max him is if he comes with a MAX offer sheet.

I agree. I don’t know the climate but I feel like he’ll get one

I'm not so sure. People are looking around at teams who have been maxing players out on potential and now cap strapped. Think Washington would max out Porter again? What about Memphis and Parsons? Dieng in Minny will make $16/yr for 3 more years. Brooklyn with Crabbe at $19mil. Tyler Johnson in Miami $19mil/yr for the next 2 years. I dont think AG gets a max offer.

its possible he won`t. But i wouldnt discount the fact that he is more marketable than any of those players becuse of his highlight reel plays. If he can bring fans to the game, and make some go gaga over him, I dont see why not.

Do you see Lavine getting a max offer? because he makes more highlight reel plays in games than AG imo.

Who are we signing/trading for that maxing Gordon out would not be worth the risk for? We're not getting any big time free agents until we start trending upwards, and we would need Gordon as a primary trade chip for a star player in a trade. I see no downside to keeping Gordon at any and all costs, I see nothing but negatives on the other side.

A lot can happen in four years.

Who knows, whoever we draft can lead us to the playoffs and we`ll immediately be in win-now mode.

Possible, but he just came back from an acl injury.

The mavs initially offered Nerlens a 15 million per year deal. And AG is better than nerlens. Not to mention, he is teasing with potential. I have my doubts that AG is deserving or will ever deserve to be a max player, but its not a forgone conclusion that he wont get a max offer in the market.

When yuve got guys like wiggins getting max deals.. anything is possible

I vote for don’t max him, under any circumstances.

That’s the thing, if Orlando becomes remotely competitive it’s an overpay at max. Anything otherwise is just wasting time and money to “find out” if he’s worth the third extension. It would also be more difficult to move on from him at the original asking price.

AG situation is simple. He most likely knows what we value him at. He probably was told go get the best offer you can get and come back. Magic will most likely match and I'm guessing he'll get around 20 a year..

who is going to offer him that $20M/yr? Not a lot of teams have money to spend. and if teams are serious on their spending to improve their teams, why lock up that cap space, for 3 days, on a player that will likely be matched.

I think he gets what Evan got.

I would be very happy if we get him for $20mil or less, I think he's easily going to prove his worth.

Other than the fact that he hasn't shown anywhere near max-level talent on the court?

Don't forget Biz at $18. Fortunately, AG is much better than Biz.

Alright, well I'm starting to feel better about it when you put it that way. I know we have to keep him, and if we can do that without losing financial flexibility then that would be ideal.

I watched this the other day. Pretty much spot on the way I see it anyway.

...What does RDV have to do with any of this? He's writing blank checks.
