Don't fret, we can resign Payton this summer when the Suns just let him walk.

When I see Trae, like everyone, I can't help but see Curry; and what helped make Curry great? A 3 & D SG, with high IQ, to space the floor and to defend the tougher opposing guard. I don't think Fournier is that guy. I could be wrong.

I started this post to ask what other guards in the draft could we make a run at to pair with Young (and Isaac), but then I thought about someone we often forget on our roster. Terrence Ross. Ross' game is a perfect compliment for Young. 3s, defense, good court vision and passing, and...size. Unfortunately he's 8 yrs older. Is there a player like TRoss in the draft? Would we want to draft him or just try to stick with what we have for the next few yrs and look for a new guard down the road? Am I underrating Fournier's complimentary game to Young's and Evan is actually the better fit?

If we do take Trae Young, I think our young core (Young, Isaac, Gordon, Birch (Yep, don't @me), Fournier, Mario (hopefully)) is still missing that alpha. A fiesty player to round out the group. Someone to talk ****, hustle, and be the pulse of the team; someone to talk **** to our own guys and hold them accountable, when needed. Who are some guys in this draft that carry that trait?

Marcus Smart would be good next to Young. Fournier sixth man.

with the 6th pick of the NBA draft the Orlando Magic select...

so many are against him but he might be the perfect pick for us, many don't realize his team overachieved because of him, his team was trash but still made it to the tourny and its because of Trae Young, now I'm not 100% on the Trae Young Bandwagon but I wouldnt be upset.

I'd love an MPJ and if he slips to us I think we should take him, look at Embiid, drafted high even though he was injured, it was also a back injury, MPJ might not make it to us but I would be ecstatic if we got him, obviously we have to hope that we do our homework on his injury.
Collin Sexton is another player I'd love as he has a motor unlike most players in this draft
Mikal Bridges is someone I'm high on, He may be the next K.Leonard, he may just be the next NBA ready player that looks to have a bright future and be his own player

Draft Thread 5.0: Needing a Pat Williams Miracle

Post#570 » by Blue_and_Whte » Wed May 16, 2018 2:02 pm

It’s frustrating to see all these teams getting a top 3 pick while we sit and remain a festering cesspool of mediocrity. The Suns, Kings, and Hawks just accelerated passed us in the rebuild process. We’re officially a treadmill team. We need to blow it up

At 6 I’d take a flier on Trae Young. He could become the scoring threat this pathetic excuse for a team needs. And what’s the worst that could happen? He busts? And what?

And it is not close. Isaac has more upside than Bamba and Young has more upside than Smith.

Exactly. If he busts he's still a spark plug off the bench like Nate Robinson. And we get a high draft pick again next year. Kind of a win-win.

I actually hope Young doesn't do the combine because I think he'll move up the board and out of reach for us.

If we draft Young, what kind of player do you all think we be a good back court pairing with him? A 3 & D type SG, a scoring SG, a mix of both?

Other than Atlanta at 3 I don't see a team that would have him BPA and Atlanta would be dumb to take Trae at 3. With that I don't see Trae getting past the Bulls at 7 or Cavs at 8. So a team wanting him would need to move up at get into 3/4/5 spots as I feel Trae's likely spot is 6-8.

3 and D, ironically Bridges would be a great backcourt partner for him in the draft. If we draft Young and trade Fournier Ross would also be a really good partner for him

Immediately would look at Marcus Smart as a very very solid option... maybe a guy like KCP who is a UFA but I see him being out of our range due to the $$ he will command. Avery Bradley be another guy of interest but like KCP he probably will get a fair $$ amount.
