2018 Summer Rumor Mill: LeBron? Paul George?

Post#1 » by MasterGMer » Wed Jun 6, 2018 12:31 am

Chris Paul has already started recruiting LeBron James.

Boston is rumored to get Mavs' 5th pick by trading Jaylen Brown. But the Mavs want Tatum.

Paul George to Rockets? Or LA?

Let this 2019 Crazy summer begin...

Oh wait, what's the rumor for Orlando Magic?

The "best" FA I have heard rumored is Fred VanVleet .

It is gong to be a slow off-season indeed.

Or we will come right out early and give too much money to a veteran bench type guy

I'd like to see either LeBron or Paul G. go to Houston.

Explain to us how Philly trades for Fournier while simultaneously preserving room for Lebron / PG and appeasing Orlando.

No way LeBron goes to the west. He's got a cakewalk to the finals if he stays in the east - especially if he goes to Philly.

If he goes to the Rockets, he won't need a cake walk with Harden, CP3 and Capela. The West Finals would be nuts for a few years though. Pretty much pencil in those two teams every year. Houston, Golden State.

He's got a few options in the West, Houston, Lakers, team up with Kawhi in San Antonio, OKC?

If he doesn't go to Philly, where does he go in the East? I really doubt he stays in Cleveland.

Yea that's tough. We'd probably want their expiring Bayless contract plus a young gun like Markell or Dario, but I doubt they'd want to give up either of them.

Depends on what they decide to do with Gordon.

If he walks and they waive Mack, they could open up about 15-16M in cap space.

If they keep Gordon, they'll have the full MLE which starts at 8.5M in Year 1.

I don't see LeBron and Harden working well together. Obviously a ton of fire power but Harden especially is pretty useless unless he's got the ball. LeBron off ball is also not super effective. I think OKC is out because there's no way he'd want to play with Westbrook for some of the same reasons as Harden. It makes sense for a few reasons to go to LA or SA, but all 3 rounds of the west playoffs would be extremely difficult and harder than anything he's faced in the east the past 6 years.

In the east? Philly, Indiana, Chicago make sense. He could still stay in Cleveland, though I agree it's unlikely unless other big moves happen.

If they manage to re-sign Mario, what effect will that have on that space? I assume direct reduction since there's no cap hold.

I want Lebron to go to the Spurs. Not sure if it can work money wise though

Gordon's cap hold is massive (16.5M) so they won't have any practical cap space unless they renounce him or he immediately signs an offer sheet and the Magic decline to match. Neither one of those scenarios seem likely to happen anyway.

Unfortunately, the Magic do NOT have full bird rights on Hezonja since they declined his option and can only offer him the amount of his cap hold in year 1, which is around 5.2M. I think he's going to get more money from someone else.

Would 3 years, 16.5M get it done for Hezonja? Doesn't seem super likely.

He said he wont resign an extension this summer, but he's still on the team until next year so they can talk next summer.

Houston needs to make trades, let Capela walk and ask for Paul's paycut to add Lebron.

who defends if Capela walks? They need to pull a rabbit out of a hat and somehow move Anderson for a player that actually plays on the court. $20mil in the dead money they pay him could be useful on someone else
