Dwight Howard traded to Nets

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/23851151/dwight-howard-headed-charlotte-hornets-brooklyn-netsThe Charlotte Hornets are finalizing a deal to send Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for Timofey Mozgov and two future second-round picks, league sources tell ESPN.
The Nets will save $17 million on the deal in the 2019-20 season, allowing them to create two max salary slots.
-Why do you do this if your Charlotte? Seems so stupid if your Charlotte by taking on a worse contract and you let Brooklyn create 2 max slots for the 2019-2020 season. I think every Hornets fan should be pis-ed.

Apparently 2nd rounders now are very expensive.

One of the most promising players at one point, now on his 6th team? I've been over Dwight for some time now, but can't deny feeling a little happy inside seeing him just bounce around the league like a scrub. He'll look back at one point and say, I **** up. Even then, after surgery he would have been as scrubby but maybe his legacy wouldn't be as tarnished as it is now.

In a strange twist of fate he ends up at the destination he wanted to go to in the first place....
I know Dwight isn't the most popular person around these parts, but I really do hope to see him compete for a championship sometime before he retires. Lets not forget he gave us all of his best years.

Howard's contract is $10m more than Mosgov's, so Charlotte is basically getting $10m in immediately salary cap relief.
Don't be surprised if they're involved in another trade here shortly, maybe as a 3rd party in the Kawhi deal?

I can see now that Charlotte did it to save money for this season but still Brooklyn got the better of the deal. If we do any trades, I don't want us helping any team create 1 or 2 max slots so that better not happen cause that wouldn't sit well with me.

But Dwight is going to be expiring and the Hornets have another year of Mozgov's albatross contract. Seems awful for Charlotte.

I agree. Not sure what Charlotte's plan is now, but I can only guess that the reason they did this trade is that they get an immediate $10m off the books. Maybe they have another trade lined up where they needed to send out $15m instead of $25 to make the trade work.
Wouldn't be surprised if Mosgov's stint in Charlotte is very short.

On another note, this seems like it would've been a great opportunity to unload Biyombo's contract.
Biyombo + 2 2nd round picks for an expiring Dwight would've been a really solid trade for us.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mozgov is cut or traded again.

Yeah seriously...wtf? We poke fun at Dwight but he was good. Nets fans seem excited. Would’ve been nice to be rid of Biyombo but I doubt the Hornets wanted anything to do with him.

A couple 2nd rounders is not worth trading an expiring dwight for 2 years of mozgov. Where's that Charlotte fan who insisted on blaming Clifford for their team's obsession with mediocre big white guys...

So Kupchak traded Dwight twice and acquired Mozgov twice. Really starting off nicely for him in Charlotte.

This takes the Nets out of the running for overpaying Gordon right?

It should. They already were going to have a tough time making a big offer of 20+, now it seems very unlikely unless they make numerous other moves.

Imagine telling Dwight in 2012 that at this point in his career he would be traded for Miles Plumlee and Mosgov in back to back years.
