Vucevic’s trade value.

Post#1 » by AshBlackstone » Sun Jun 24, 2018 9:44 pm

Does he really have much value beyond that of an expiring contract in today’s league?

Like i have literally said for going on two seasons now, Vucevic has NO value, he is a negative asset, he is not worth his contact at this point. If we could dump him for literally nothing in return to a team under the cap, that would be a fantastic outcome for us. But i dont think we will be that lucky. We will either take back another average player on a bad deal or we will trade him with another asset. Players of his mould are redundant in the modern NBA.

The best i am hoping for is we trade him for a point guard, perhaps Dennis Schroeder, who is also on a bad long term contact, and would be another PG who cant really shoot 3's. So i dont know.

I dont think he is a negative asset now, as he is an expiring. But his value is only to a few teams.

and unless Atlanta is offering something else up, i would not do a straight up trade for Schroder. He is not the type of PG we need, as he still cant shoot well from outside and has attitude issues.

You all don't think he could help a playoff team for scoring punch from the bench? I can see Milwaukee getting a call from us since their board thinks they want to get rid of one of Bledsoe/Parker/Middleton/Brogdon. I know it's only the fan view but we have an in with the FO and may work something out. I just hope it's not Schroeder.

I can't imagine it's very high.

Would anyone be interested in something like... Vucevic for Courtney Lee?

Lee expires at the same time as Biyombo.

Don't we need a scoring punch off the bench? Keep him.

He’s not that efficient of a scorer. I’d take a 2nd round pick for him.

Yes this is true. Just thinking about him being annoying that he may not start and will have to take less minutes so using him to get someone who can score in his place who fills a need in the back court. If nothing good then definitely keep him. I just think if he has to be a bench guy he may not stay beyond this year so may as well get something we can actually use moving forward if we can.

He’s not a negative, but his value is only in the fact his contract is expiring. He’s not going to want to come off the bench and we could probably fill out other parts of the roster for him. He’s better off traded.

We need to trade him before he has literally zero value. And it’s not like he’s going to resign with us next year now.

Come on people! Let's be more positive! This the best signing for Hennigan in the past years! Trust in Henny!

Well we saw saw that a 34 year old expiring vucevic can get you Austin Rivers, so a 27 year old one should be able to get you something decent

Can we trade him to the Cavs for Clarkson or something? I know Clarkson's contract sucks but we are in cap hell for the next couple of years anyways so why not

The bench? Dude, we need a scoring punch period. We don't even have a scoring punch in our starting lineup let alone the bench. Vucevic's usefulness to Orlando as a player has passed.

As an expiring contract, I think he'll have more value at the trade deadline.

I haven’t understood Vuc’s value the entire time he’s been here...always seemed like he was worth something but teams just don’t have a need for the guy. Until now due to his contract.

Brook Lopez, who I consider to be pretty similar to Vucevic (probably better shooter, worse rebounder), was traded in the final year of his deal last off-season for D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov. It fetched the Nets a young point guard in his rookie deal, but they had to take on a massive contract too.

The Bucks sent Greg Monroe, a protected 1st round pick, and a 2nd round pick to the Suns for Eric Bledsoe.

In both instances, the team trading the center is having to give either cap space or future draft picks to fill a hole at point guard.

The market for big men as a whole is pretty limited as it is, especially ones who can't defend in space or hit 3's at a reliable rate. We have a glaring hole at point guard. I imagine somewhere between those deals is the value of Vucevic.

I think we don’t find a taker so we just waive him eventually to clear up more time for Bamba/Birch.

Just don’t see what a team would really give up for him given what he is in the modern NBA. You could pick up guys like him anywhere for pennies.

Not sure if terrible is the right word. I live in SoCal and saw plenty of his games for the lakers and he is better than he showed with the cavs. He can score better than most PGs when given the chance, good shooter and is pretty creative passer with decent vision. Is he the best, no of course not, but at this point hes better than what we have and if (when) we miss out on guys like Exum, Evans, bradley, IT, this is about the best we can hope for in a trade for Vuc. Personally i think hes a much better player than Austin Rivers who the wiz just got for a similar player (gortat)
