Despite the nay sayers: AG 2018/2019 Stat Predictions
The Roster is Set. Lets hear the AG 18/19 Stat Line Predictions.
--------
A lot of push back on AG as "the best player on the team" and AG taking another big step forward in his 5th, post contract, post Clifford hire, and post improved shooting form year.
So lets have some fun and document some of the doubt.
Ill start with the predication below and will follow with all primary offensive statistical categories.
AG will average over 3.0 apg. A 30% increase over last year 2.3 apg. Based on AGs personal improvement, higher on ball usage, and cliffords more advantageous x's and o's.
Who says no??? AG apg > 3.0apg

need to identify what his role is. Is it starting PF? do they try him as 3&D SF now? those are big things to estimate stat lines

I almost forgot how awkward, team dependant Gorsons offense was.
Average vision and passing, good at cuts, put backs, transition, below average high volume catch and shoot. Below average off the dribble. Embarassing driver to the rim.
His skill set screams 3-4 option worth around 12-17 M. Defensively he showed lack of feel and awareness this year, maybe Clifford does somethimg about it but it doesnt look good, potential is there with his athleticism but he lacks almost all important things to be elite on that end with all the switching
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Re: Despite the nay sayers: AG 2018/2019 Stat Predictions
If he returns I don't see him being force-fed the ball within Clifford's offense like what happened last year.
I see him scoring between 14-15 PPG on an efficient 49-50% shooting between 31-33% from 3. 6-7 RPG adding between 1-.5-2 APG...

14-16ppg 7rpg 3apg 52%fg 34% from 3. I hope he embraces scoring more off cuts and moving the basketball. His efficiency will improve but that's not a max player in my opinion. If takes the same role as last year 19ppg 6rpg 3apg 43%fg 30%from 3 highly inefficient forward on a losing team.

Pretty simple. He’s getting resigned regardless. If he can create offense ,something he hasn’t done or been effective at especially at SF, in a system with isaac/Bamba on the floor- he stays. If not, he’s going to be traded.

Re: Despite the nay sayers: AG 2018/2019 Stat Predictions
Last year was all about getting his numbers up in a contract year.
He should start to settle into his role. Bamba being here will help him whether he plays SF or PF. Ultimately, he'll play both. It will be interesting to see where Clifford starts him though.

We've all talked about it and the statistics/advanced stats help further prove that he doesn't much of a go-to prowess (bottm of the league when it comes to 1 on 1 possessions) and thrives within the flow of the offense.

It's fun to project his stats in a vacuum but I want to see how the roster shakes out first.
I would have different answers depending on if DJ Augustin is the starter (who I'm actually fine with) versus a Chris Paul, you know?

Ryan Anderson = Pat Garrity 10.0

Exactly. Will he be playing next to Vuc or not? That's a pretty big deal. Is Evan here? Another big deal.
I'm going to expect he's playing with Vuc for half and Bamba/Bizmack for the other half. Not sure that it really matters who else is on the floor outside of less offensive minded players which I doubt. I'm going to say he ticks up a notch in every category and becomes more efficient. 19-21pts a game, stays around 7/8 rebounds, gets to 1.5 steals and hits 3.5 assists a game. He's got a contract - time to focus on being a better team guy.

Re: Despite the nay sayers: AG 2018/2019 Stat Predictions
ag has the second highest usage on the team last year.
despite that, most of his points came from assists, as he struggled off the dribble.
that said, he is currently limited as a 3 and D player.
with our current roster, it would be challenging for aaron to increase his ppg this year, imo. unless he shows miraculous improvements with his shot creation.
he only deserves the max contract because of his potential. but based on his game right now, theres no way we should be paying max on a 3 and d guy.
we have increased his usage for 3 straight years, and the more we have increased it, the more his win share has gone down.

Id be open to trading AG for a starting PG or SG. Wiggins is one who pops to mind. Would trade AG for Wiggins in a heartbeat.

Would you guys do a sign and trade with Phoenix
Marquese Chriss (younger less developed potential Aaron Gordon type) and TJ Warren 19 PPg scorer for Aaron Gordon?

no one would give value back in a sign and trade, wiggins isn't a good basketball player either.

no. Warren looks like a starter, but he definitely needs a 3 pt shot unless he starts playing otherworldly defense to stay as a starter in today's nba. And Chriss, not sure what is going on with him. He looks like an end of the bench guy. very inconsistent, what is going on with him?

Chriss showed promise his rookie season, but sophomore slump alot of it had to do with his playing weight/shape. This is the telling 3rd year, but I"ll give him another (4th) to really determine if he's a bust or not.
As of now, Suns have been hampered by non productive draft class guys like Alex Len (5th), Bender (4th), Chriss (8th) but luckily we drafted well this draft I think we're on the right track.
Chriss is a super athlete who has a solid shot, can make athletic plays, but sometimes lacks awareness and overall bball IQ. He could make a great super sub big man off the bench if he puts it together.
Warren I agree with, nice thing about him you don't have to run a play for him he'll get 15-20 on garbage points, runners, floaters, transition etc. He scores effortlessly. Problem is, he doesn't do much else really, he's an ok rebounder, but doesn't pass well or really shoot from 3 well etc. At first I thought signing TJ to a 12m a year deal for 4-5 years was awesome. Now I want off of that so badly because Jackson Bridges Ayton Booker and Bender (yes I"m still super high on Bender's potential) are more important pieces to sign.

AG’s lack of ability to take defenders off the dribble really limits his offensive upside. Which is a bummer because of how athletic he is. Dude is a total stiff with the ball in his hands. I still think he can develop into a strong role player though - although the fit on this team isn’t optimal for that to happen.
