Magic Waive Shelvin Mack

Post#2 » by Howard Mass » Mon Jun 25, 2018 7:58 pm

The Magic have waived guard Shelvin Mack.

He did a decent job especially after Elfrid Payton was traded but $6 million for him in this summer's market is too much.

Only $1 million will count on the cap and hopefully that is not stretched like C.J. Watson's $1 million last year.

So we legit have (1) PG on the entire roster including 2-way players, at least we know either a trade is happening or we're going to sign one of the following with the MLE (8.5M)

Fred VanFleet
Isiah Thomas
Dante Exum
Avery Bradley
Tyreke Evans

Looking at the list I think they're all obtainable using the MLE just depends on the direction we would like to take.

I say throw the full MLE to either VanFleet or Exum.

He was a good player for depth but he’s not worth 6 million a year.

Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

We could trade Vuc for Lowry and use our cap space.

If you renounced Gordon and Hezonja you'd have well over 20m in cap space.

Let me this right you rather renounce Gordon making him a FA and essentially lose him for nothing to have enough cap to absorb Kyle Lowrys contract?

Glad I wasn't the only one whom this trade has crossed the mind. Vučević + Fournier for Lowry works.

Lowry is quckly trending down and Toronto gets two players in their prime to keep them in playoffs, while we get good pnr point guard to help our frontcourt.

I'm just throwing that out there as an option. Other players that we could sign using 20+ in cap space could be a better option than giving Gordon a max salary.
