Lol no.

To begin with, i dont think we’re allowed to sign and trade him, no?or is that only if we match an offer sheet?

IBTL. Not just because it’s a terrible return that includes giving away a future first, but this kind of thing is what the spec thread is for.

1 - Gordon isnt going anywhere
2 - you cant s/t players as part of a package as far as i know
3 - thats a horrible deal for us even if weham were interested in trading gordon, which they arent no matter what this board wants to believe

Heyallllllllllllllll NAW

We keep him unless backed into a corner with Indy, and they probably have multiple targets so not so sure they drive up the price.

I'm guessing if we keep Gordon and we only trade Vuc that we going to pay the luxury tax? I think if we keep Gordon, We have to trade Fournier or Biyombo to not only avoid the luxury tax but get under the salary cap. It be really easy to keep Gordon if we can trade Fournier and Biyombo.

i believe we can just as pointed out you can't sign and trade him in a package

and how often does a team doing a sign and trade actually get value back? there's not really incentive to give up much because ag can just refuse and sign outright

The only leverage the Magic have in an Aaron Gordon sign and trade scenario is if a team like Indiana or Phoenix makes him a max offer.

The Magic could then contact those teams and say “hey we’re gonna match... unless you make it worth our while to not match.”

Likely in the form of draft picks, young talent on rookie contracts or ideally some combination of both. I’m not against it to be perfectly honest with you.

Something like the Pacers 2019 1st and TJ Leaf for Gordon would save the Magic a ton of money and essentially give them two first round picks in return.

Doesn’t seem like a big return all things considered, but it would make the Magic FA players next summer and increase the war chest of young assets.

But realistically, the Magic’s best bet is to match whatever Gordon gets even if they have no intention whatsoever of keeping him long term and then aggressively shopping him in December when he’s eligible to be traded.

Basically the Blake Griffin strategy.

Aaron Gordon will be with the Magic next year, even if it takes a max contract. And that trade with Utah must've been posted by Rob Henigan in disguise.

We are over the cap but we aren't in danger of hitting luxury tax territory. And even if we trade Vuc or Evan or Biyombo it doesn't mean we get cap space as there are rules that you have to have approximately equal return coming back if both teams are over the cap. There are some teams with space but most are using it for bigger options either this year or next and the few that remain are probably not just going to let Vuc or Evan just slide into without more coming from us(like draft picks and I am not giving up any draft picks right now).

Why does everyone just want to give up on AG and move on from him all of a sudden? He's very productive and good.

There is a good chance we are about to give him a max contract and so far I wouldn't really say he's been good, showed promise sure but he can just as easily end up not improving and being dead weight

Who do you think will give him a max? Only 2 teams have major cap besides the big dawgs LA and Philly who are going after the big fish. Sac only has 20 mil and are rumored to also want Mario so they won't offer it all to AG. You think Indy will opt out of reupping Thad and give him a max? That's the only way they can.
