I know we all wanted to address the PG situation but we cant fix it all in one summer. Like Weltman said, he rather do it the right way then the fast and wrong way aka rob Hennigan way.
Im fine with sitting tight until next offseason/draft. There is no long-term PG solution this summer and alot more could be available next year. Every year, at least one disgruntled star gets traded. I think Portland is gonna break up the CJ/Dame backcourt and thats when we have our chance to jump in.

Only thing I could maybe see is Portland being interested in AG...

“We’re in a pretty good place with our financial flexibility, all things considered, but the roster is done as we sit here today,” Weltman said in an interview. “We don’t feel like there are any holes that we need to shore up. We can always get better, and we’ll always be on the lookout for ways to get better. At this point, that would come probably more in the form of a trade if we were to do anything for the remainder of the summer.”
All they have said is that we are done with free agency.
He has opening said we are still engaged in the trade market. You can’t control when other teams are ready to make deals that interest us. Maybe that happens at the deadline or maybe it happens quickly over the summer. Who knows? But free agency is done and that seems fine to me.

I am disappointed we did not sign a backup PF. So either Birch is the backup or Isaac is coming off the bench. I don't like either of those options.

Correct. All he said was were aren’t going to throw money at FA’s. Trades can always go down though.
Better strap back in.

They have been for a long time. I love AG, but if it would net us Dame, I would do it. However, I think if POR decides to trade one, it will be CJ first as Dame is obviously the most talented player.
Would a CJ for AG swap be fair? CJ is 4-5 years older then AG but would pretty much solve our PG woes for years to come. I think first we will see how the Isaac/Bamba towers perform before making any big trades for the core vets.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the fact that they didn't sign any vets this summer.

this is where I'm at... We have to see how BIG plays together on the floor, then look hard at AG and his game. Is he continuing to show improvement,
staying healthy and taking on a leadership role. Also depends on where we are in the lotto?
TIN FOIL HAT>>>>
IF a big IF... AG doesn't make strides and we are able to land a top 5 pick would trading CJ for AG (obviously more pieces involved) and then being able to take a guy like RJ Barrett or a Cam Reddish or Nassir Little make sense??
That's what this year is all about it really is Sit and Evaluate 2.0

I feel like Kemba Walker is going to be wearing a Magic jersey either by the deadline, or next summer. I hope that happens along with another star.
Nothing to base it off of besides we have money next year and he's available, but just something I'm hoping for.

They still have another two-way player to decide on.
PG: Augustin/Grant/Briscoe
SG: Ross/Frazier/Purvis
SF: Fournier/Simmons/Iwundu
PF: Gordon/Issac/Birch
C: Vucevic/Bamba/Mozgov
It is possible The Magic could use their MLE to sign a veteran swing man or even a point guard but other than that, it's just about the camp players who are being signed for Lakeland and who gets that second two-way deal.

Just because he said that doesn't mean they won't sign anyone. We're getting late in FA now some of these guys out there will be lowering their asking prices.

I'd venture a guess the depth chart looks a lot different than that. I'd assume it will be more like:
PG: Augustin/Grant
SG: Ross/Simmons/Fournier
SF: Fournier/Isaac/ Simmons/Gordon/Ross
PF: Gordon/Issac
C: Vucevic/Bamba
Non Rotation players who could play depending on injuries, trades need, etc: Iwundu, Briscoe, Mozgov, Birch, Frazier, Caupain, Purvis.
I definitely do not see Frazier as the backup 2 and I see Isaac getting a good number of minutes at the 3.

I'm fine with it. I don't think we're going anywhere near the playoffs with the projected starting 5, so we'll still be in a position to draft a solid PG with a high pick next year.
I know the draft is projected to be poor but these things always change. Someone always comes up

Also, we'll be able to learn from our Summer League team's mistakes. We need guys that can put the ball through the hole, regardless of size or length. Building your team with scrappy guys that can't play a lick of offense isn't a viable option.
Sticking with one dimensional players like Vuc and Augustin isn't viable either

Even though I really don't want to watch any more Vuc + Evan, and even though DJ as our starter makes me ill, and even though I'm hardly an apologist for this front office, I'm able to acknowledge that playing this year out and getting another good draft pick is probably a fine idea. Just as long as Isaac and Bamba play every night. 20 minutes for Bamba is fine I think. That's enough time as a rookie to build on as a sophomore. Birch getting buried is aggravating though.
If we re-sign Vuc next summer, that's when I lose it.

I don't believe him for one sec. Just more posturing. All this did was tell IT's camp, "Your offer is there with us, but you're not getting anything more. We're content without you."
Then secretly he's hoping IT will take our 2 year, Team Option deal at $7M per (Shelvin Mack money).

Good point. They are very good with money. We will be happy this is the case in a year or two.
