Isaac - Magic Cure?

SIAP - pretty nice article on Isaac's potential. Seems like a lot of people really starting to notice him and his improved game.

May I see some documentation on that please?

If he can play meaningful minutes this year he will be a big difference maker for us. We could likely see him playing the 3, 4 & 5 this next year.

Between this and the podcast yesterday The Ringer seems really high on him. I'm glad some of the talking heads are noticing what most of us have been seeing.

I liked this part of the article...

My favorite subplot was Magic guard Terrence Ross, watching the game from the sidelines, yelling, “He can’t guard you!” whenever Isaac got the ball with Jackson on him.

T-Ross is the perfect kind of vet to have around for our young team. Hope he sticks around.

We are better with Isaac on the floor.

Yes, even last season as a rookie he had a pretty significant impact on the defensive end of the floor at the beginning of the season.

I’m also very hopeful in Issac. He’s bulked up and has improved offensively. The more actual nba minutes he gets next year the better. I’m hoping he improves enough to make Aaron Gordon expendable.

Where is this new offensive explosion from Isaac everyone is talking about? I would pump the brakes a bit before we set ourselves up for disappointment, I want Isaac to improve offensively and become a star two-way player as the next guy, but he's shooting 13-37 (35%) from the field through 3 summer league games. His best offensive game against Brooklyn where he shot 7-17, I recall him making 3-4 jump shots, which looked really good, but he has clanked almost all of his jump-shots since that game. He hasn't been shooting well in Summer League, and he will not be our franchise-savior if he does not develop his offense at the minimum to a level where he can at least hit open 3's consistently.

He's still a long ways out, he looks good putting the ball on the floor and his jumper looks pretty smooth, but at the end of it he's still not able to put the ball in the hoop effectively, which is kind of disappointing (even though it shouldn't be because he was a project offensively to begin with) because I was hoping he'd dominate against these scrubs.

I'm cautiously optimistic about his future offensive game... it looks good now, but there's a very real chance he never develops the ability to start actually draining those 3's, etc. We've been through this already: AG (not that it's necessarily too late for him to develop an efficient/good offensive game).

Great defener but extremely limited offensive player right now. Him being able to learn how to dribble pass and shoot will make diference between looking like Kiriljenko and new Pascal Siacam type player

The shot is usually one of the last things to fall consistently for guys like this. Key thing is that he has shown serious improvement in developing some go to moves, improving his handle and aggression in taking the ball to the rim. As long as he keeps improving noticeableyl like he has, the shots should start falling at a higher %. Probably expect to see that midway through the season if he gets regular minutes from the start.

I think his offense is probably a year out still, but he is coming along well.

I think that's why us Orlando fans have been so high on him. We've seen first hand his presence in limited minutes and short stints. It was only a matter of getting adjusted to the NBA and being put in the strength/conditioning program for him to make big strides. If he keeps it up, he'll be an All-Star in no time (well, maybe a couple years!). That's my hope! :D

Shoots 37-38% in rookie year, 36% in SL , questionable 3 point stroke and horrendus shooting off dribble last season ( stats back that up, shot 15% from mid range ). Maybe you watch him play through fan-glasses

there is not single player in the world who has horrendus stats and who is great player my friend, if somebody struggles to dribble a ball and shoot- he is not good offensive player by eye test , stats just prove that.
He is young, can develop , but right now he doesn't look like player that will turn this team around .

Who said he is a great player today? No one.

But are saying he outright can’t dribble or shoot. That just isn’t the case. Shots aren’t falling at an elite rate early but he has a smooth handle, is beating defenders off the dribble (at his height!!) and delivers nice clean shooting motion.

These are the things you look for (with your eyes!) as indicators of growth and development.
