~Snoopy~ wrote:I thought he will become our Jimmy Butler QQ but seems he hasnt improve.Theres still time in the offseason but Id have to be a really naive to belive he will improve THAT much... but hey what else we can do but hope...

1st season of Jimmy B
8,5 mpg 2.6 ppg .405 fg .182 3pt
vs Wes
16.5 mpg 3.7 ppg .427 fg .196 3pt

pretty similiar though Wes played a lot more

jimmy in 2nd season had huge jump from 8 mins to
26 mins 8.6 ppg .467 fg .381 3pt

that was a huge jump in 3 pt category and overall shooting percentage

next years Jimmy had ups and downs in terms of 3 pt percentage and never became lights out but still always hovered around 28-38%

3rd year he choked a bit and percentages went down to
38.7 mpg 13.1 ppg .397 .283

and then the breakout season
38.7mpg 20ppg .462 .378

so
its too early to scratch Wes off but imo it all depends if he can improve his shot (not only 3 pt but overall)
also should be noted Jimmy was younger than Wes when he was in his 1st year so that isnt very optimistic
but again ....we can only hope

Jimmy is the outlier not the example. And I’m sure he showed a lot more flashes in his rookie season than Iwundu showed. Marble is much more realistic imo.

the coaches kind of ran Wes as the 1st option for SL, which didn't fit his game. When he has to do less, he'll do more.

Jimmy in playoffs of second year:
13 ppg 43% FG, 40% for 3

April 15 ppg , 48% FG --55% for 3

He was getting better and better before playoffs rolled, where he actually was more impressive on defense doing best he could on Lebron.

Iwundu on other hand...simply isn't good.

btw Jimmy Butler in summer league 20 ppg over 4 games on 43-50-90 , he was master of drawing fouls even there.

Don't even have to go that far... Butler was way more efficient in college in less years... well ahead of Iwundu as a prospect. Butler was already solid coming into the league... he was just getting very limited garbage minutes. Once he got consistent minutes off the bench he looked like a legit NBA player and then improved from there. Iwundu with consistent minutes looks like a g-league player... only good thing is he plays with some energy, which is not all that appealing without actual skill.

Magic Twitter continues to play itself.

I mean, the guy had a play where he somehow spun out of bounds on a fast break. He has regressed from last year. It’s bad.

Read on Twitter

It says a lot when part of the highlight is him giving high fives to other players.

This is a joke right? He was awful in summer league and should prob be cut. He should play in China or the 2nd division in Europe to refine his game.

Frazier and Iwundu are pretty similar, but Frazier shooting form at least gives us something to work with. Don't think Iwundu will last.

I’m pretty disappointed that nobody has a made a gif of him putting a spin move on himself on that fast break. Step it up people.

I don’t think summer league is really the barometer to decide whether he’s cut or not. He had a bad summer league and we’re giving him **** but in a smaller role during the regular season I think he’ll be fine.

He seems so much more relaxed shooting now. I guess he knows he has his spot in the rotation now, a bit less pressure.

Iwundu is playing for a new contract as his expires this year. Thus, I hope he earns another.

If a player's shot is broken past the point of no return, that's one thing.

But generally speaking, it's easier to learn how to fine tune a jump shot to an acceptable level than it is to learn how to hustle and play with heart and effort.

Wes has the heart and he has the hustle. If he can continue to relentlessly drill his 3PT shot, he will be an NBA rotation player on the wing for a while.

If i remember correctly, he signed a guaranteed 3 year contract. With Mozgov coming off the books next season, i hope that it gives us enough wiggle room to retain him if they see fit!

I think Thanos used the "Reality Stone" on these guys during practice. lol

Iwundu has a team option for the 2019-2020 season for $1,618,520.

The Magic have to decide on that by June 29th. Seems like a no-brainer that the team will pick up that option.

If the front office does exercise that option, Wes will become a restricted free agent with a $2,191,188 qualifying offer in the summer of 2020.

Spectacular thread bump for a spectacular dude. I love watching Iwundu play -- he is all guts.

I think the play that is emblematic of his recent performances was the game a few weeks ago where he twisted his ankle and is hobbling around a bit on D trying to stick in the game to avoid taking a timeout -- ball comes to his side and gets lose and he is diving, twisted ankle and all, onto the court to grab the ball and garner us a possession. No quit in that dude.

Wes is a dog. For that is extremely likeable. Never going to be a superstar but just a junkyard dog that does the dirty work. Love you Wes
