Andrew Wiggins?

Hey guys,

I hope you're all good,

I was thinking about players who are high risk/high reward and what we could possibly get for our expiring deals and Andrew Wiggins came to mind. With everything that is going on in Minnesota it's clear Wiggins, Butler, and KAT don't work or want to play together. Believe it or not I think Thibs will stick with Butler over KAT and both Wiggins and KAT will be moved and are 2 players we can target. KAT is the more valuable prospect and also a forward so he isn't a realistic target for what we have and what we need, I think Wiggins is though.

If we acquire Wiggins 2 things can or will happen, either he develops into the star guard we want and need, or he helps 'the tank' this season and we continue to develop him. He is a good athlete so should be able to improve defensively, and a new start would do him good, in my opinion.

I think there are 2 deals we can offer

Orlando sends: Fournier + Vucevic

Minnesotta sends: Wiggins + 2019 1RP

Fournier is ready to play now and can come in and help straight away at SG or SF, Vucevic will give them a starting or back up centre once they move on from KAT

Orlando sends: Ross + Vucevic

Minnesota sends: Wiggins + 2019 2RP

Similar to the previous deal with Ross replacing Fournier and the pick becoming a 2nd rounder due to not acquiring Fournier. I would personally prefer the first deal which would leave our roster as

2018/19 line up

Augustine/Grant
Wiggins/Simmons/Iwundu
Gordon/Frazier
Isaac/Jackson
Bamba/Birch/Mosgov

What do you guys think, is Wiggins someone you think we should take a gamble on?

Even with the opinions abour wiggings by most fans, i SERIOUSLY doubt the timberwolves would even consider trading him for fournier and an expiring Vuc

With Butler most likely leaving I can see the Timberwolves wanting to part ways with Wiggins as well. He's just not a good fit with Towns. I'd trade expirings for Wiggins if they'd do it.

Minnesota isn’t trading Wiggins PLUS a 1st rounder this year. He’s a frustrating player for sure. But he’s still 23 years old only. And never injured.

Think about it. Why did Orlando trade victor oladipo? They didn’t want to pay oladipo. So they traded oladipo PLUS A 1st round pick for expiring contract in Serge Ibaka.

Who knows. Wiggins may have a breakout year. But Minnesota would rather roll the dice and keep him for now.

He is underperforming (inefficient scorer, poor playmaking and defense) and thus highly overpaid (due $150 million over next 5 yrs)... plus he's disgruntled about his current situation. If Minnesota wants to move him it probably wouldn't take much to get him.

I honestly doubt the wolves moves him. Especially with jimmy buckets likely going to ny.

What is with people wanting to trade Fournier away for players incapable of shooting? Also, why would Orlando want to acquire another unmovable contract in Wiggins? Don’t get it.

Wiggins gives us nothing we want. People think Fournier is a bad passer and defender lol Wiggins would be most hated player ever here.

No to Wiggins, unless he's packaged with multiple FRPs coming our way. That monster contract guarantees we are not contenders as long as it is on our books. Contract aside, he is one of the worst players in the league.

Because Magic fans are tricked into notion that wingspan and vertical leaps are keys for being contender.
Who needs shooting in league where teams shoot 35 threes a game

If the Magic were offered Wiggins and a 1st for Vučević and Fournier, I think PBO Weltman makes that trade.

Out of interest, the Magic becomes:
Augustin/Grant/Briscoe
Wiggins/Ross/Iwundu
Isaac/Simmons/Frazier
Gordon
Bamba/Birch/Mozgov

Cleary the Magic need a PF as the 14th man, but overall, I would say that that is a bad team. But a bad team that could be interesting in 2020.

The C core will be atrocious in 2018/19, but Bamba will be given reps to grow into is Sophomore season. And the Magic would use the next offseason to totally revamp the PG core.

Wiggins/Isaac/Gordon/Bamba is a 4-man core that could lead to a Champion caliber roster.

We've had a previous round already with a similar trade involving Wiggins, not many liked it then either. I'd keep Evan and ship AG, but I would love Wiggins here. I don't know why everyone is so willing to give up on him so soon. A different environment, coach, and scheme would do wonders for him. I would love him at sf rather than sg, but hell yeah I'd take him in a heartbeat.

For the proposed Fournier and Vučević for Wiggins deal, how is he anything but a SG for Orlando?

If you think Wiggins is best suited at SF, then perhaps the deal itself should be questioned.

You're right, for this deal it means nothing. I was referring to something that was talked about earlier where we trade AG and keep Evan. I'd rather have Wiggins at sf in that scenario. But, I would do this one just the same. I don't believe the kid is done.

Magic fans only want players who are superstars by the 2nd/3rd season. Who would want to trade for the next potential DeRozen. Well, maybe most teams. Personally, I don't think the Wolves have any intention of moving Wiggins. Fans must be bored.

Many here have wanted a volume scorer for some time. The current roster is balanced and that will never lead to an Alpha personality.

Frankly I see PBO Weltman simply perfecting the approach that former-GM Hennigan tried. This can work in the sense that whilst every team is trying to out-Warriors Golden State, Orlando is trying a differing approach: height/length and defense is prioritised over offense.

To be honest, we shouldnt be going with the warriors. We need to zig the zag like how the Lakers are doing. Playing like the warriors is a trap. They have elite of the elites running their game. We need to find a new approach.

I highly doubt Lakers will be top 4 on West.
And i don't see them passing second round.
They are fooling themselfs with playstyle that is oriented around poor shooters and ballhogs. I can see some better spaced team bouncing them in 7 games ( Utah ).

You can zig and zag as much as you want, fact that 3 ball is future won't change , having guys that streach floor allows others to drive and freeze defense. Against teams like Lakers Gobert and Mark Gasol will look like Gods because they will never leave paint.

Shot Type League Average Shooting Percentage Reward for Success (Points) Expected Value of Shot Attempt (Points)
