Yeah, no **** Sherlock!

Seriously though, seeing this come from a source other than our own mouths is kinda nice. I know we're already blue in the face in talking about it. At this point, words do not do justice. I think we all want a little action and this news headline is a step in a positive direction.

Soooo... it will be interesting to see what happens...

Is there a market for him???

How long will this take? :-?

Will it actually happen? :o

If so, are we taking back bad contracts?

Or is it better to let him expire and use our savings in FA?

How will he accept this news? Will he be a team cancer? :nonono:

Vučević might be the player most likely to be traded in the NBA this year. I saw three stories on this topic today. And as I agree with you above, this really is a non-story story.

Of course Vučević will be traded.

Philosophically Vučević is the one player most linked to the ineffective development of the whole team. At this point, that he is Orlando's best player, one really needs to question the word "best."

If Orlando can flip Vučević for Walker by only taking a bad-contract, I think this could happen.

Vučević, Ross, and Augustin for Walker, Zeller, and Lamb works salary wise, for example.

If Orlando overachieves early and the Hornets is nearly winless 20 games in, maybe Charlotte only wants expiring for their rebuild.

Or is it better to let him expire and use our savings in FA?

What if Orlando wins 55% of its games after 20 games played? Can Vučević be traded if the Magic is winning with him as a starting Center?

Scary thoughts!

Trade him for an expiring like Bogdanavic or Dudley seems like the most likely situation.

Why would we trade him for an expiring contract that doesn’t fill a pressing need?

That’s a bad trade for both teams. Neither are legitimate playoff contenders and would be swapping expiring assets that are both looking for greener pastures. Kemba and Lamb are the two most valuable assets in that scenario, so that wouldn’t remotely be a good trade for Charlotte.

Vuc will either get traded for a young prospect, with a bad contract attached, to a contender that can’t give them minutes. OR for a pick and an also expiring contract of lesser value. Just a realistic guess.

That isn’t scary at all. That is the dream scenario. It increases Vuc’s trade value as we approach the deadline.

Vuc up for grabs? Via wiretap

It looks like Vucevic may be on the market according to the wiretap. Not a surprise but I figured we’d use him as a security blanket till mid season till Bamba kinda got his feet under him. What kind of trades you guys think would be beneficial with him? I’m thinking trade with Boston: Vuc for Rosier and other pieces, like pics or cash. We get a good up and coming young guard, Boston gets Horford some legit front court help. Works for both in my view.

I have a feeling Boston would be very interested, same with New York, both have bigs that Vucevic could take some pressure off of in Kristaps and Horford. I could also see a team like the Spurs, and perhaps Portland. They’re a significant talent piece away from being a real threat. Despite Vuc’s defensive misgivings, he can score and rebound well enough to push a team to a higher tier.

Realistic trade scenario and I’ll likely get flamed.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y9y37sp2

LAL-
2019 1st (protected)
Isaac Bonga
Luol Deng

ORL-
Vucevic
Iwundu
2019 2nd

Why for both teams?

Orlando gets rid of Vuc to give minutes to Bamba right away. We get a young future asset in Bonga. Orlando gets more cap space after only waiting another year when Deng frees up. 1st round picks are always valuable.

Los Angeles frees up cap space a year sooner and acquires a legitimate Center other than McGee for this season. They trade Bonga that probably wouldn’t see time on their squad anyway and give up a 1st (the price of moving a bad contract) that definitely won’t be top 5 and likely not top 10.
Los Angeles retains the ability to clear cap space and doesn’t really miss out on acquiring more youth that would be buried on the bench regardless.

Basically it makes Los Angeles competitive now, without losing a year of Lebron, with little risk to their future. For Orlando, it opens up minutes for Bamba and allows the Magic time to develop their youth while investing more in the future with a pick, Bonga, and legitimate cap space two years from now.

Most of us knew this, I wish it would happen sooner rather than later. No expectations next season, give the keys to Bamba at C and for once develop a rookie from day 1. Will he be great his first season? Probably not, I hope so, but we need to stop babying our rookies.

Btw. Inb4 "he's out best player" who hasn't translated his best player talents into wins.

Because a pressing need is shooting. I don’t see many PGs we can get for him.

Trading him early into a season or before season even starts would probably mean team is ready for another deep dive into lottery.

I don't know how to feel about it. It's not like you will get much in return, expiring contracts simply don't have much value.

That’s perfect, we need another lottery dive before this is over.

If the Magic get an expiring back for him, a young asset or even a pick, that is fine.

An expiring big for an expiring shooter?

I’ll take the cap space, a late draft pick or a shooter locked into a friendly contract instead.

Because trading him isn’t about but what player(s) we get in return, it’s about trading him to clear up minutes for the young guys and losing more games.

Expect a trade for an expiring/2nd rounder/ or maybe even a buyout if the market is dead for a Vuc type of center.

We all know that Nikola Vucevic is likely on the move.

Ever since Mo Bamba was drafted it could not be more obvious.

A trade is likely to happen no later than The NBA Trading Deadline and probably sooner.

The return will not be great but they should be able to get something of value.

What happens with Vuc is going to be the issue most speculated about on this Forum until the trade happens.

I feel the exact same way. I'm not quite sure where this story is coming from, especially from a team who notoriously keeps things close to the vest. Vuc is expiring, we need that space to go after Kemba so taking on someone, unless it's part of super star package, is likely not going to happen.

We are going to need depth and he is one hell of a back up at a position we can get when the market for Centers is at it's lowest.
