Mario Hezonja - NY

Post#1 » by NavalAviator94 » Tue Sep 25, 2018 10:08 pm

Not sure if this belongs here, but I’m super interested in following his progress. I think we made a mistake but time will tell.

Regardless, here was a nice article on NY looking to use him as a point forward like Skiles intended but quit.

He didnt make any mistake, he wasnt going to get any playing time her with Isaac and AG taking all the forward minutes. Mario is a good kid but there is nothing he can bring to the table that isnt replaceable by another player on this roster. We should have picked up his 4th year just to see how much he would improve but there is no place on him on this team. Good luck in NYC. I fully expect him to have career numbers vs all 4 times we play the Knicks.

I love Mario but I am not sure if he will be a great player. He may have just been too hyped due to his athleticism and jump shot. He will most definitely put up some 20 point games and catch fire some nights, but others I think he will frustrate fans.

I hope he does well though. Point Forward for him is a little optimistic, IMO. He makes too many turnovers and mistakes, but it will be fun to watch.

Biggest mistake of the offseason. Been saying since his second year that there was something wrong with him. He lost the explosiveness he had during his rookie year. Glad he got it back last yr, but it was too late.

I was disappointed to see him go and I hope he does well in NY. Looking at the roster now though, I do struggle to see where he would get any meaningful minutes unless there are some injuries. Still, it's incredibly frustrating to see a high draft pick just walk for nothing.

To me it was a matter of letting Ross and Simmons go. But oh well.

Never had a chance and when he got minutes he had to play with a crap point guard and a 1990 era offense. Good luck Mario. I’m sure when you get minutes over Courtney Lee you’ll show this organization what a mistake they made.

Lol. Mario’s ig story makes me sad. The knicks have two guys i was hoping we draft. Wanted Kristaps with the 11th pick before he backed out. Then Mario. So sad.

just my personal opinion, it doesnt belong here. he chose to leave Orlando. I dont have anything against, him, but since he isnt here, i could not care less about his progress in NY.

What if Orlando signs him to a bigger deal than the Knicks offer? Heard that coach Fizdale wants him to be a point forward and run the offense a bit.

Some posters are claiming he's starting which is very interesting, coincidentally I was playing NBA2K and sure enough they have him starting.

Boosted confidence is only good for a guy like Mario.

We are going to regret how we treated Mario. I'm done with the franchise, it's still my team and I love it, I have no hope we'll good any time soon though and won't invest in believing it. Mario, next to Tobais Harris and Dipo are the reasons why. We could quite comfortably have a line up of (assuming we still tanked)

Oladipo/Augustine
Fournier/Iwundu
Isaac/Hezonja
Gordon/Harris
Bamba/Dedmon/Birch

I know having Bamba is a question with those guys still here, but even so replace him with Vucevic or move Isaac to centre and it is still an incredibly strong line up and a playoff line up, especially if we sell Harris and Hezonja on coming off the bench.
