is Jonathan Isaac any good?

I’ve heard absolutely nothing about him. Is he a pure PF or hybrid? Good jump shot or no? Future defensive monster?

How’s he did with Bamba?

Shows potential as an offensive player but defense is his bread and butter. Imo all-nba defensive ability.....if he can stay healthy.

Havent really seen playing with bamba much in,preseason due to injury but they look stifiling agains summer league talent

He's good at getting injured.

His offense is raw he's shown some good signs of a jumper and some dribble moves and creating for himself but largely still raw and doesn't seem to be a natural scorer at all.

Looks more suited to the power forward spot to me because of his offensive issues but he's got the speed and defense to play the three so i guess it could go both ways still.

His defensive instincts are really noticeable, always seems in the right spot and makes an impact on defense already.

Hasn't been comfortable with his handles and attacking at the NBA level so far.

He's got a nice stroke and the defensive impact is already there tho, so I'm not really too concerned.

I don't think so. Another sprained ankle. And knowing this team, he'll be out for at least a month with little or no explanation.

Sensational defensive ability. Great physical attributes + instinct + versatility on that end.

His offense was probably a bit over-hyped coming out of school. This team is constructed rather poorly with really bad spacing (going on for like 8 years straight) and that makes it harder on him because he struggles to create for himself. The near-decade long offensive struggles of this team result in additional frustration from fans when young players struggle on offense. He has struggled with durability thus far as well

Last season a lot of us wanted to see AG/Isaac tandem the 4/5 positions but it never really happened.

If he never got better on offense I think he’d still be useful as a great defender. I’m not big on his offensive potential but think at the very least he could be a spot up guy. Just doesn’t seem like a creator.

Best rookie I've seen on defense. Really worried about his ankles. I think he's more of a 3 on offense and that should be great for us

Defensively he's already excellent.

He's quick enough to switch onto guards and he long enough to contest jumpers AND shots at the rim. Plus he has excellent team defense instincts and is smart enough to know when to help with enough athletic ability to recover.

Offensively? Who knows yet. His jumper *looks* like it will be fine, but he hasn't shot the ball all that well from the three point line. His ball handling isn't too advanced either.

He's had problems staying healthy.

not enough time on the court to tell yet, things are still fluid on his offensive game but his defensive game is granite solid....one word describes it disruptive, dude is a ball hawk.

He's a great pastor. Currently leads the league in sermons.

Does a sermon count if no one is there to hear it?

About the only real information we actually have on Isaac going into year two. Defensive ability doesn’t really matter if you can’t stay on the court to utilize it.

I think JI could become our best player assuming health. Last year he was our best defensive player in efficiency for the first month and we were well above .500. He went down and the team started struggling then got hit with even more injuries and it was a freefall at that point.

He has potential but also has health issues. I would probably still do a Isaac for Dennis Smith JR or another really good PG trade as this teams greatest need is PG.

Something to add. He’s grown to 7ft+ and has limited ball skills from what we have seen. To me that screams PF/C option more than it does “forward”. We have yet to truly see what a front court of Bamba and Isaac can accomplish or of what they can be capable.

He has a lot to learn, but the sky is the limit.

I still believe that what he can eventually bring to the table would surpass what DSJr. can provide ... maybe even a "really good point guard"

If it is agreed that vuc is not part of the future, tanking or development is next seasons goal, and bamba is up for the challenge... trade augustin and and Vuc to Cleveland for George hill. I know it adds an extra year of salary... but if we didn't have plans to use it next summer... more money will be ready to come off the books in 2020. fill in the PG and SG positions for the future within that timeline. Let Clifford whip these kids into shape.

I think he has the potential to outshine DSjr, but has a great risk to not achieve those heights as well. Just saying that a young DSjr would really fit this teams future.
