I did read something after this that made it sound more like him only playing 4 games this year was already discussed/agreed upon which does change how I feel about it a bit.

the Military bowl...I hope the school is getting some decent coin out of it, what a shame compared to what could have been but I guess can't be toooo disappointed making it to the conference championship game at least.

As great as the visibility gained from being in the Cotton Bowl would be, I wonder if beating a Duke team going into the offseason is better than getting smoked by a motivated USC team.

And I believe Divaad Wilson declared for the draft (i think he still had one year left because of the free covid year, but not 100% on that).

Also landed Christian Leary (4* WR from Alabama, was Top 10 WR in his class). He has two years of eligibility. I think he'll slip into ROKs role.

Also if rumors are true, the roller coaster of trying to hang on to John Walker's commit with UF trying to flip him has been crazy. Went from UF being certain he was flipping to giving up on him within like 20 minutes yesterday, lol. Sounds like he intends to stay with UCF, which is huge for us. He's a big time get.

I imagine we'll hear about a few more transfers before the week's up.

well, didn't expect much and that's about what we got. I had it on my phone at work, turned it off when JRP forgot to hold onto the ball on that run

I was listening as I was driving home (Ft Myers) from Orlando during the game. Uninspiring is how I would put it. The defense played better than expected quite frankly, especially in the second half. If the offense showed up, I think we win that game. Not sure what happened but they just sounded out of sync and like bad play calling.

To that point, when Gus hires an OC he needs to give up play calling. He is far too busy managing the program. That's what OC's are for. He has hinted in recent weeks that he's open to it, so i'm hoping that comes to pass. Too many broken trick plays and screens. For the love of god throw a slant every once in a while, lol.

We really need to bolster the lines though. Defensive line got no pressure all season long (22 sacks over 14 games is horrendous), and the offensive line gave up too many sacks (6 yesterday!), especially in key moments.

Thankfully it looks like the recruits and transfers coming in are heavily focused on those areas. Transfers should provide immediately assistance. Maybe a couple recruits see the field early (Walker), but most will probably need a year, though we're so weak there i wouldn't be surprised to see multiple freshman burning redshirts on the DL.

Looking ahead to next season, bowl eligible will be a successful season IMO. Going to be a really tough schedule going from AAC to Big12, so tampering expectations.

On the plus side, the basketball team is exceeding expectations and doing really well. Hendricks is going to most likely be a one-and-done as he's started getting mocked as a mid-late first rounder. BIG game on Saturday vs #3 Houston.

Definitely expecting a rough year or two, was hoping for a better season because of it
