Realistically who do you want our PGOTF to be?

Edit: Feb 1st - Took DSJ off for obvious reasons and turned on the option where you could edit your vote.

There seems as there's a lot of mixed emotions/opinions on the consensus of who we want to be our PGOTF so thought it would be interesting to see it compared side by side.

Acquiring a PGOTF is almost inevitable at this point so I would like to come back to this post and see peoples reasoning after deadline/summer and see who nailed it on the head.

I'm going to leave this poll up for 8 days (right before trade deadline) and will open it back up if we stand pat

I listed the most realistic targets/scenarios (please let me know if I missed any).

Some players have different contract situations so once you choose please state how you want to acquire him (trade or offer contract this summer) and explain reasoning on your choice.

I'll start and go on record that we should NOT acquire our PGOTF before this years deadline.

I wholeheartedly believe we should draft Darius Garland that should be in our range to draft without trading up (we could potentially trade down in this case).

Darius Garland has a Kemba esque feel to his game and from eye test seems like a less athletic, but better shooting version of DSJ.

This will allow us to maximize our assets and cap to address another position of need.

*I am well aware of Garland's injury, but seems just to be the meniscus so not too overly concerned with it effecting him long-term.

My second choice even if we draft Garland would be Brogdon (I love the two PG lineup idea).

It's not about getting a specific position, even point guard. It's about getting a true alpha who has the ability to be a No. 1 option on a contending team. Since, to me, we have core players at 3-5, that likely means we need a guard of some type. Out of those players listed, only Wall has shown he can be that. Certainly Fultz looked that way when he was drafted and DSJ has some similar makeup, but all those players are likely No. 2 options or worse. We need to find a way to get our franchise talent however we need to and then you fill in the spaces around them. With our current roster, the best odds are for us to get lucky in the lottery and have a chance at Morant or we can hopefully make a deal to get him without crippling us for the future. So, for me, based on what I've seen, I'd do what I needed to do for him or hope that Garland can surprised and be a Lilliard and our other players fulfill their potential.

No chance.

Top 4 teams

NYK
Cleveland
Phoenix
Chicago

ALL need a starting PG, I see no trade that makes realistic sense.

K Irving, but that is probably not realistic... Although i don't think he is happy in Boston and 1% chance of him signing with orlando is better than 0%.

Well if you could get Brogdon, but I think the Bucks match anything.

I would love Kyrie, but like Kemba it's very unrealistic without having an already established star to pair alongside. Kyrie will follow wherever Butler/Leonard end up.

didnt Brandon Roy have a meniscus issue? unless Garland to is an absolute lock great player, why not get a PG first, then you can use the pick for the best player available

I'm in the same boat, Fultz 3rd.

To add to the Garland video, here's the full highlights of the last game that was abridged at the end:

Banned! How's that for "realistic".

In all seriousness I'd vote Dennis Smith Jr above any other realistic option assuming we can acquire him for a fair price.

Really?

Middelton is a FA easily looking at a near max contract.
Bledsoe is a FA easily looking at a contract in the 15m-20m range/yr.
Lopez is a FA and def. looking for a contract increase.

Then you have Brogdon coming off his rookie scale looking for his first big pay day.

All of this while already having a maxed out Giannis and two negative contracts in Snell/Ily on your books

Lastly, they drafted DiVincenzo for a reason. I'm sure the Bucks view him to be an eventual cheaper Brogodon replacement.

I do believe Milwaukee weighs out their options, but I dont agree they "match anything".

Looking at Garland's highlights he'd definitely be an option in the draft though. I like his speed, handles, range, and aggressiveness, which are all things we could use. I'll have to check out a game or two, see if he's consistent. His overall numbers aren't as impressive as he looks.

I do, Brogdon is one of the best shooters in the league and if they don't resign Bledsoe, he'll be their PG next year

Fair point. Unfortunate, but fair point.

Roy like MANY players had surgery on his meniscus, but he also had degenerative Arthritis in both his knees which ultimately what cause the early retirement.

Damn do I miss me some Brandon Roy highlights.

Where's the option to point out PGOTF is a stupid acronym?

We'll see, you never know with those 'flat-earth' people!
If orlando cannot sign a high caliber point guard before next season, i think they will face a long time of being a 'bad' team (certainly 3 to 5 years i think).
